***OKIES in the BYC III ***

rofl, Bill! Frokies??
And RetiredArmyWife-we're such Chicken Newbies that we both had to post Snowbirds pics lol! Aren't they hilarious???? The 2 may be Polish mixes but they look like Spitzhauben to me. In my one picture of my Faverolles boy down in the left hand corner you can see a Spitzhauben (or Spitz mix). I've got 2, one is in another picture also. Yours are beautiful. The one does look just like my Cuckoo Marans.
Oh man, Robin, that sucks about your daughter! Is there a way for him to get there by himself and they can join him in a month?? Don''t you just want to strangle your kids sometimes? I feel your pain.
Poco, that's a really pretty goat! And that's one thing I noticed when I went out to let the birds out this morning-all the snow in the pens were covered with wild bird tracks! I never realized the birds got right down INTO the pens with my babies-horrors.

Ok, this was my 1st snow with chickens so this was hilarious. Maybe next year I won't stand out in the cold with a camera laughing lol! And when I opened the door to the coop the Faverolles are in, what did I see??? The very last Guinea bird I've been trying to catch!! She's noisy but she's not dumb, she slept in with the chickens last night. It was dark when I shut the door so I didn't see her. The 2 girls are marked with zip ties, I'm keeping 2 boys so whoever wants the 2 girls and the 1 boy can have them. The Cochin girls and Silkie girls are still peeking out from their coops, it's been hours and they won't come out haha! I can hear them out there fussing and carrying on. The Silkie boys have a roof over most their pen so they came tearing right out. They were all making the food noise and trying to feed each other snow lol!
My little Serama says he'll just watch from the window, he says he's a tropical bird.
Now to go catch up on all the posts.....

Great pictures! As you'll see I was laughing and taking pictures also. First snow for mine and they are not happy. LOL

you know mitzi- typical of them- jump first, well, i think they have it figured out- and i'm not asking for too many details...
coral- sent you a pm...
keep praying for them- they don't seem to think too far ahead
let my guys out- some had never seen snow, and they just stood there, peering out....LOL!
Robin, just for the record I'm not the one who asked why they left without having the money 1st. I've got kids your daughter's age-so I already KNOW the dumb things they do sometimes, I don't have to ask.

just passed on corals info, usually my daughter is very anti church- so maybe this will work to soften her heart- we don't have the funds to help, and this has been an ongoing issue of jumping first and not thinking... sigh...

When I was chief of police in Hardesty, I was in charge of Ministerial Alliance, which was a fund that all the Church's in Hardesty had money in. I was in charge because I got to see most of the people traveling that needed help. Many of them worked the system, but some were legit like your bunch. tell her to get in contact with the police dept. They should be able to tell her anyone that can help. I wish I was in a position I could help out with money, but I aint in that position. Will pray they get where they are going and do it safe.

You do realize the rest of the list is laughing at us, right? They've had chickens for 30 winters and don't much see the humor in 'snowbirds' anymore lol!
I LOVE your coop, too!!!! I save up for things with what I call The Envelope System. I put $10 or $20 a week in the envelope for whatever I'm saving up for. It may take 6 months but I just keep plugging along and putting money in that envelope and put it out of my mind otherwise. Before I know it I have the money saved up and I can get whatever it was I was saving for and not have to dip into the money for bills or anything else. I would dearly love to have a coop like that for my Modern Bantam pair. I might try to build it, otherwise I'm starting a Coop Envelope!
I just noticed the date on my camera is off by a day again, maybe it's still yesterday and it hasn't snowed yet??

not gonna go there!:) ok, back to work, get to start on this guy today.... any ideas of breeds?? maybe a br/bo??

he died of complications of gout? the client said too high of protein can do that with chickens?/

well, apparently what they are going to do is get an emergency loan, that will at least get them up there.... sheesh!! a few more gray hairs added to my head....arrrrgggggg

Oh thank goodness they figured something out! Kids tend to do that when they're up against a wall and their parents can't help lol
I don't know what the roo is but his color *is crele like someone else said. Too high of protein is said to cause lots of problems, I wouldn't be surprised if gout was one of them. It'll cause kidney problems and urinary stones also.
