They should have hatched Saturday.. But they are aparently a 19 day bird.. I have one variety like that, always hatch on day 19 instead of 21.

Must be all the red cell and good feed their ma and pa gets. makes them want to come out of the gate faster.

Personally I think that helps.. I have the Rosecombs from different sources that prepared me for a 50% hatch being good, I keep them on Cod Liver Oil, Wheat germ oil, Vitamin A, B12, and E and have been gettingg 100% hatches with no line, variety or breed crosses.

You don't need all those tools, I have a good tractor with a front laoder and soft soil.. Can't stand to watch a woman work too hard.

I have that trouble also with my youngest son, now I have the opposite worry with him. He is older than the girls in his school.

LOL, he all but ignored her for the most part.

Oh wasn't from lack of interest.. Guess who demanded the birds at Pryor be entered under him to make sure I would take him.. Could be a long day keeping an eye out..

if i , or someone that knows bette,r go out and by junk birds, we deserve what ever we get!

but when i see someone that i am sure is trying to decieve new folks i do get upset.
i have seen a lot of people that want to show birds get discouraged or just quit because someone sold them crap birds.
it is worse when it comes to pigeons, so many more colors and varieties than in chickens. and so many people selling them that actually have no idea what they have.

Yeah when we first started buying birds at the auction we got some "Golden Salmon Marans" I paid a good price for them. Now two different chicken folks have told me they are not Golden Salmon Marans. I am going to keep them for now and see if I can hatch some babies to see, they lay the darkest brown eggs we get around here but I know that doesn't make them a maran. Now I am more selective about what I buy and from who. I have only been buying chicks at auction now.

Oh I hate days when I feel like am getting nothing done! I did get coops all cleaned out and water and feeders all bleached and refilled. Then we went to Prauge to the sale there. Didn't see anything I couldn't live without. I almost bought chicks just because I felt sorry for them being crammed into those cages like they were. That is my problem at auction I see birds all crammed into a cage that is way to small. I feel sorry and end up buying birds I don't need. But I told dh I would skip on these they just weren't very active and I know how active my chicks are that are about the same age. We came home without buying anything. DH did take me out to lunch at Boomarang.

Moved babies to bigger brooders, I had some 6 week old red stars that are old enough to be in the juvinile pen now so moved them in there with a little divided area so they can see the older chicks (all 10 weeks old) but where the older ones can't pick on them. I need to watch the weather to see if it is going to get cold enough for them to need a heat source tonight or not. I think dh and I will head over to the auction in Harrah off HWY 62 instead of driving to Coweeta, it just seemed silly to drive 2 hours for an auction we don't "need" anything from lol.

Hope everyone else is having a more productive day than I am, I always have these grand plans for my days off then realize there aren't enough hours in the day, lol.
