***OKIES in the BYC III ***

She is almost completely feathered. I separated her from her sisters and I'm about to go to TSC and maybe Atwoods.

Could be respiratory related. Anytime I have needed to medicate birds I use tylan 50 injectable. I tried sulmet & wasn't happy with the results. Tylan is seems to work almost immediately. Not sure about injecting a chick. By chick do you mean still under a heat lamp?

I bought some online and should be getting those tomorrow. This will be my first time. I'm nervous!!

Hi All, I hope everyone enjoyed this good weather today.

I have been thinking about buying some hatching eggs on Ebay. Has anyone here done this before? What was your experience? Are there any special things to look out for?

Also want to say thanks for all the good info on NPIP testing on the board today. I am calling tomorrow to get my flock tested. I am considering going through the course myself. I was just wondering if someone is allowed to test their own birds?

Take care. I think I am off to play in the garden some more!

Buster sorry about the attack, glad the dogs kept everyone safe.
Tried calling to find out more about the porter hill auction in Elgin. I didn't get an answer, so I will try again tomorrow. Just want to know if it is a one time deal or if it will be a new regular auction. DD only has about 3 or 4 dz eggs hatching this week so we will probably take chicks to the Elgin sale since it is much closer.
I had a LONG day. Tried to use tractor radiator hose began leaking. Took it off ran to town got a new one & put it on --- then the PTO shaft on the tiller wanted to be a pain! Tomorrow will be the second try to lay my irrigation & plastic mulch. Hope for a calm day. Once the plastic is down the real work begins.
Heading back out to work until dark. Frozen burritos were for dinner, one kid was happy. The other threw a fit, but I had been too busy to think about dinner.

Pick up a few cans of PB Blaster and pray it on the shaft on the tractor and on the release pin on the shaft on the tiller. It works alot better than WD-40. Any auto supply carries it nowdays, I've been using it for years, I used it once on a Oneok truck the district manager drove, he saw what it did and put 2 cans in every truck.

Have you checked the auctions here?
I trust them a lot more than on Ebay.

I would tend to agree Nocity, I have recently had pretty good results hatching shipped eggs for others, but aquiring at the local sales you will often have fresher eggs, and be able to locate the seller and discuss the birds in more detail prior to purchase. That will let you make a better informed decision.

I got some Duramycin-10 but I have no idea how to measure it. It says 200-400 MG per gallon per day. I also got some VetRX and it says one teaspoon per cup of warm water. I think the tetracyclin would work better but I have no way to measure it. Any advice would be appreciated.

Got a few decent pics today I thought I would share.

This is Stark. The most beautiful Naked Neck in existence!

This is Cha Cha. Yes she is a diva.

This is Lacey. The only Ameracuana I could get to stand still.

Sprout. She is not bigger than a puff of air, but don't tell her that!

A few of the Olive Eggers I hatched January 6, 2012.

My egg colors right now. The sunlight washed all of the brown colored eggs out.

Cats are the ultimate ungarnders.

you sure the cats did it??? seems odd they are so methodical to lay them out like that...

on buying eggs- check with some of our locals here- Joe(banjoejoe4783) would be my first suggestion- he does a wonderful job packing- and is close, so they aren't in the mail for very long- in general i have heard to expect a 50% hatch rate- but sometimes it is much higher- when you get them let them sit for 24 hours before setting them too
