***OKIES in the BYC III ***

Ran across this ad on Oklahoma City Craigslist posted this evening. The ad has pictures.

Quail Breeding pen (Paden, OK)
15 hole quail breeding pen, works well as a brooder for bantams. has all feeders and waters and pans. 405-229-3140 or 405-932-5100.

He wants $350 for it. 5 high stack unit with all pans and feed trays. Has a caster set rack . said he had it a few months. More than I wanted to spend, but looks good.

Now NaNa thats only the cost of one calf and you could set it up in the hot tub room! and be in the quail business!lol
Absoultely beautiful day here! Opened all the doorsa and aired the house out. Worked on turning the garden over(do it by hand with a shovel) Got about half of it done.
Pulled some more turnips and ground them for the birds ,they sure like them that way.
everyone have a great evening!

Loving all the pictures!!!

Buster...sorry about your girls. Hope you find what beastie was out there! Sounds mean.

We had a great day today: two calves born..grafted some apple tree scions....finally took my paperwork to the accountant for taxes. Whew, what a load off my mind. Ran by my favorite plant nursery in OKC for a few hard to find tomatoes. I only wanted a few colored bell peppers this year so bought plants instead of starting them myself.

All the talk about NPIP testing reminds me to get back on that stick again...

The meat grinder you are using is the kind like you make hamburger with, it had the metal die thing and the cork screw feeder into the metal extruder thing right?

Like this?

I was going to use it as a brooder for the Spangled OEGBs that are hatching at Carl and Stephanie's and for the little d'Anvers bantams when those eggs arrive from Georgia and finally hatch.
Think I will just go ahead and make the brooder cage boxes and go to the bakery supply to get the plastic bread trays and a roller cart...probably for less money and a little elbow grease.

It was a great day for throwing open the windows! Love the smell of Spring!

Dutch you need to contact the state & have one of those tester come because it will only cost you 5.00 to be certified for one year, when you are due again they will contact you to re-new. I have heard rumors that they are considering ending this program where it only cost 5.00 so I would get it done.

Poultryandbee's will have the number but in the mean time I will see if I can find it too.

Oh those are beautiful! I love the colors. Now I am going to want speckled chickens and light blue eggs. (Nope nope not looking)

Got a few decent pics today I thought I would share.

This is Stark. The most beautiful Naked Neck in existence!

This is Cha Cha. Yes she is a diva.

This is Lacey. The only Ameracuana I could get to stand still.

Sprout. She is not bigger than a puff of air, but don't tell her that!

A few of the Olive Eggers I hatched January 6, 2012.

My egg colors right now. The sunlight washed all of the brown colored eggs out.

Hi All, I hope everyone enjoyed this good weather today.

I have been thinking about buying some hatching eggs on Ebay. Has anyone here done this before? What was your experience? Are there any special things to look out for?

Also want to say thanks for all the good info on NPIP testing on the board today. I am calling tomorrow to get my flock tested. I am considering going through the course myself. I was just wondering if someone is allowed to test their own birds?

Take care. I think I am off to play in the garden some more!

hi and like anny auction wether it is a local auction or one on the internet there are always GOOD DEALS and poor ones i would always read the feedback the seller has reseved so you know whow happy or unhappy his buyers have been

EBAY can be good because you can find breeds that you like and would not find localy and you will always hear the na sayers that say there are not "show quality" eggs beeing sold but the truth is there are lots of quality eggs beeing sold on ebay and i know a lot of verry good breders that sell eggs on ebay all the time the thing to remember is it is always a ?????? when hatching shiped eggs i have had 85% hatch rate on shiped eggs and also have had less then 10% it has a lot to do with how the eggs are packed and shiped

but in the end BE YOUR OWN JUDGE if you see some eggs you would like and you fill good about the seller then i say you have the only say that maters good luck and i hope you find some exalant eggs to hatch
