Well there goes my theory of birds getting to die a quick death when a snake gets them

I have caught & relocated 19 snakes this year. I do not kill them, why?, they are just doing their thing. Why not just catch, drop in a pillow slip and relase at least 5 miles away. I just cannot understand the death wish everyone has about snakes? I caught a 2 ft brown tree snake last night, TINY in my world & actually sat & watched it for at least an hour when I released, she was facinating.Anyway, headless I shall retreat.
PS Yes I am female.

Good Morning...still...Had to post this for those of you with pigs.....
Nana your picture didn't show up for some reason, I wanted to see since I still have piggies LOL

I'm an avid reptile person but have to agree for the most part that unless you can relocate to an area where it won't be someone else's problem then your not helping the animal out much, I didn't mean to crash your view Mitzi LOL but the truth is a lot of snakes can't constrict or kill their prey with venom like the Coachwhip although, the Coachwhip can and does kill by holding what it's going to eat and pressing it against something firm, I was real surprised and disappointed with catching the one I had and in it dying in the trap I think they are awesome creatures I kept one for years that was almost 8 feet long by far the largest Coachwhip I'd ever seen, I named her Myrtle and she actually seemed to like being held LOL Her favorite thing to do was to extend off the top of my head and get across the blades of the ceiling fan (with it off of course :) and just watch the world go by under her :)

It worked for me in the 80s! I had a 6 ft. boa constrictor that wanted to lay on the banister in my townhouse. So, whenever I'd open the door, if it was an obnoxious door to door person trying to sell me something or preach to me, I'd invite them in and we'd stand in the foyer. Invariably they'd lean up against the banister while we talked, and then pretty soon, here would come the snake sliding down to check things out. :)

Hi back again, thank you all for being so gentle. I guess I should clarify, the snakes I have to deal with are not poisonous and I would certainly call a reptile remover if I had one of the venemous ones around. Snakes in general certainly do not make me warm & fuzzy but I have to move them or they will just keep coming back. And no it certainly is not a quick death for the chicks and I have saved many from a huge mass of coils which is a freaky experience but has to be done. I really have to pysch myself into catching them and it is really difficult to then get them off you and into a bag. I always use the option of my dad when possible. Yes you are all correct, I do have national park that I can relocate them into so I do not have that problem. My chooks have to be firmly locked into small sleeping crates as it is almost impossible to keep my whole coop snake proof. Even though it is completely meshed we have these really big native rats that chew through wire, making holes where snakes can get in. Have just bred from my "super snake smart" rooster because he is ancient & I want his smartness to stay in my breeds but I do not think it works that way. LOVE the chicks in the carton, I wonder if some would sit in egg cups for a pic, that would be cute.
