Sorry about your terrible day. :/I love that book, and that was my day today.
I am so looking forward to the movie this winter.I love that book too. Gollum might be a good name for a NN roo.
can any one guess where gunmama got there names????? ILL give a clue its a classic disney movie.
There's a lot of Copperheads, Rattlesnakes & Cottonmouths where I live. Honestly, I didn't examine the snake in the dark to see what kind he was before I grabbed him with the tongs anyway. Do I get credit for paying an extra $20 for the "Gentle" snake tongs? lol All I saw was a snake with part of him sticking out from under some birds and grabbed him. All I had was a flashlight so I still don't know what kind of snake he was except dark. He was probably a rat snake.Hi back again, thank you all for being so gentle. I guess I should clarify, the snakes I have to deal with are not poisonous and I would certainly call a reptile remover if I had one of the venemous ones around. Snakes in general certainly do not make me warm & fuzzy but I have to move them or they will just keep coming back. And no it certainly is not a quick death for the chicks and I have saved many from a huge mass of coils which is a freaky experience but has to be done. I really have to pysch myself into catching them and it is really difficult to then get them off you and into a bag. I always use the option of my dad when possible. Yes you are all correct, I do have national park that I can relocate them into so I do not have that problem. My chooks have to be firmly locked into small sleeping crates as it is almost impossible to keep my whole coop snake proof. Even though it is completely meshed we have these really big native rats that chew through wire, making holes where snakes can get in. Have just bred from my "super snake smart" rooster because he is ancient & I want his smartness to stay in my breeds but I do not think it works that way. LOVE the chicks in the carton, I wonder if some would sit in egg cups for a pic, that would be cute.
Reagor, You probably could save yourself the time and not bother cooking the oatmeal even, A tip I got from others here is soaking rolled oats in water and feeding those. The others let them ferment for several days but I didn't like that ideaSo I leave the bucket inside in the air conditioned house and add cold water to the oats and feed the next day. They scarf it down, they couldn't possibly love it any more if they were fermented. And they're nice and cold from being kept inside.

Can you see it now?
Good Morning...still...Had to post this for those of you with pigs.....![]()
They love it soggy with just cold water lol I leave it soak overnight so they're plenty wet. What's the advantage to them being rotted (haha) on top of that?Ksane you may not like the idea of the fermented oats, but I GUARANTEE your chickens will love it.
Ksane, I don't ferment mine. I get clean oats not rolled. I put them in a 2 gallon bucket half full of water and let them set overnight to get good and soft. then I feed the flock 1/2 of the wet oats.. I make enough for two feedings. The second feeding goes in the icebox in the barn to hold until feeding time. I also put a 1/2 tsp of Oxine in the soaking water since the seed has been blown clean but may have mold or fungus in the bag.Reagor, You probably could save yourself the time and not bother cooking the oatmeal even, A tip I got from others here is soaking rolled oats in water and feeding those.
