***OKIES in the BYC III ***

They're kinda rare. Usually seen after eight or more beers.

You beat me to it, I was going to google to find some crazy pic like that. lol

This is one of the blue game chicks, that isn't blue IMO, but is full of personality! You can see I was luring them with feed. I would sprinkle it in hopes of getting a good shot while they ate.

The cell phone booster has yet to be installed, but DH did change out the door knobs to door handles (to make it easier for me to open them). He also knocked down a few acres of weeds with the tractor, removed the fallen tree off the fence & repaired the damage. Fingers crossed he puts the booster up tomorrow, took me about 15 min & multiple tries to load that pic. My hands are aching from the 30 min of computer time. This is the booster we are installing. Much cheaper on Amazon than BestBuy.

we get over a dz channels crystal clear. Just an idea of how good reception is, I think we normally get 3 radio stations inside the house. Not 3 we can listen to, 3 total! I have even now canceled our netflix. I refused to have a contract to have TV so that is why we went with the antenea.

Mitzi you may not have the best hatch from those guinea eggs, this late in the season they are iffy. I know Cathie posted about her hatch this wk, don't remember the numbers. If you let those mommas raise up the keets for a few wks you will enjoy it. We love watching the mommas with their babies. (I spent over an hour in a lawn chair bird watching today). But soon their natural guinea instinct takes over & they are getting theirselves stuck in all kinds of places. Taron put a few branches in the coop (like our grown guineas have) the babies will roost during the day & the chicken mommas follow suit. They just want to be near their babies, but honestly RIR hens normally don't randomly roost on tree branches during the day! Always neat to see what they will do for their babies.

Well, got all of the critters home this morning finally. They wouldn't release them last night ... sheesh ... as if there's a big difference between 10 last night and 7 this morning except I could have slept longer this morning. Really NOT doing this again. I know it educates the public and all and the kids love seeing them but the way it's managed is not good.

Hopefully the toms don't kill each other before the day is out. We took one to the fair and left the other home so of course as soon as we brought the one back sparring ensued. Luckily one is more dominant than the other and is bigger so they shouldn't fight too long. I'm sure our neighbors will be thrilled to know we brought back all those noisy bantam roosters. Hehehe. You should have heard the animal building at the fair grounds this morning. Probably 25 roosters crowing, geese squawking, ducks quacking, turkeys gobbling, sheep and goats bleating ... it was amazing. We couldn't even hear each other talk.

Well, I'm off for another fun filled day of cleaning out a garage. sigh. Have a great day everyone!

Something attacked my girls last night. Doesn't look like I lost any, but when we got home from the fair and inlaws hours (it was about 12:30a) I went and checked on everyone. My Ancona and my Rooster were frightened and hidey-holed under the chicken coop. There were lots of tufts of feathers everywhere, I couldn't find 1 guinea, my black australorp hen, or my black sex link hen. This morning, everyone is out and about, my other girls must have just been hiding really well. Nobody is missing and there were some tufts of feathers by the coop that didn't belong to my girls. Thinking maybe an owl or hawk.

More news - I checked on my broody hen yesterday before we left for the fair and there were these 2 little white heads poking out from under her black feathers! I was so excited!

I checked on her this morning. I actually moved her - she was not happy with me - and 4 of my 5 shipped eggs hatched! That's pretty good! YAY!! 4 more SFH!

I've lost some special (to me) birds recently to a predator. We've got 4 traps set and have caught the neighbor's cat twice and nothing else. We let the cat go both times and then got to wondering if it was that stupid CAT that had taken the chickens! They've all been small ones so I bet it was. If we catch him again he won't get to go free this time. There's 4' and 6' fences to get over and I can't imagine a coon going to that kind of trouble although it's possible. But we've always seen that cat in our yard and I've seen him scale the stockade fence like it wasn't even there. Plus the chickens probably aren't afraid of a cat so he could've snatched who he wanted to.
