That's a lot of $$ to me. Ive been saving for a while.
I only have about 3/4 of an acre. So, it wasn't too much fencing. But goodness they want an arm and a leg for wood.
We have about five acres, and we got an estimate for chain link fencing. The guy wanted $15K! I want to do it cheaper with another kind of fencing, but the OKC laws are strict about what kind of fence you can have. It makes me really grumpy because there are loads of fences out here that don't meet the legal requirements, but I'm scared if we just put up fencing someone will complain and we'll owe a fine or something.

We lost our silkie hen today. She passed an egg & her organs as well. I have had a guinea hen do the same once but I believe it was her first egg ever. The silkie hen has laid many eggs & raised lots of babies so I was surprised. Poor Taron was sad because the silkie is the only one we had & such a good momma so of course she is a favorite! Not sure if we will look for another silkie. We have been trying to consolidate birds & the silkie hen was considered "high maintance". She liked having her own space & didn't intermingle with others ---except her babies of course. Always sad to loose a bird with such personality.
Love the NN babies! And the favs!
Oh, I am so sorry. :(

Well Kurt got up this morning to feed and found his last little d'uccle pullet dead. Not sure what happened to her. She was fine last night and the other two pullets in with her (EE mixes) and the little D'uccle roo are all just fine. I think I will leave him with the little EE mixes for girls. Kurt may be happy with that, he just hated to see the poor little roo by himself. But I think these little EE's will be fine for him. They are 1/2 americana and 1/2 phonix so hopefully they will keep him happy, lol.
