Teach, since I am getting quail eggs from you, I will need some guidance through the incubation, hatching and raising period. I have never raised quail and really don't want to have the croak on me. I have heard that they are a lot different than chicks to raise. Anything I should set up in advance?

Morning, sounds like everyone is geared up for the class! Wish I could sneak up to have lunch but can't make it. Hope you all have fun!

Luvs glad you are getting your garden out. We tilled between the rows the other day. I lost most of the oakra but the rest seems to be there.

Have a great day everyone.

Morning all : Hope the coffee is good & hot, Taking my riding mower to the shop today for some annual maint, getting prepared to get hammered $$ by them not LOL.

Morning again, all is done and the water is a going. Got tater bugs tho, so water this morning then sprinkle some 7 dust on them this evening. Need to get some more onions out. Dug up all we had planted back in march, Not to bad of size on most of them.

4 rows of corn is doing awesome, can NOT wait till they produce. I have cukes already. We still need to get out more corn and okra and I think that is it.

Hey Al, anything special to do to Green Bell Peppers to make them produce big fruit, last year we got small peppers. And at that not alot of peppers.

OK, ready, here you go.
Strength in the plant is important so mix 3 tblsp of Epson salt to every gallon of water and add to the plants, every month they will grow strong roots & stems. Make sure that you plant them close enough that when full grown the leaves just barely touch each other. Peppers are big eaters so feed them with good organic material often, make sure that it does not have too much nitrogen though or the plant with grow tall and spindly with few fruit. The best thing I have found for decent sized peppers is to pinch off the buds when the plant is small, they cannot produce peppers when they are small and this can effect their size of any future fruit. Also for good sized peppers keep them picked get pick the little ones when you see some larger ones forming, to many little peppers on the plant will stress it out and then cannot produce a good sized one. When it gets super hot outside they may take a break in production don't worry because by Sept they will start up strong again. Peppers love sulpher so if you can dig a book of matches in the dirt right next to the plant, this will help a bunch with color and health. Do not plant bell peppers next to HOT peppers as they will cross pollinate and you will end up with yucky tasting peppers. By the way try to plant them next to Okra the like each other. Also if you smoke do not tend your plants unless you wash your hands first, Tobacco mosaic virus is impossible to get rid of once in the garden and it will ruin a good crop of tomatoes.

If you add plenty of green matter and I mean plenty and cook it in the pile well, it should be ready in 6 mo turning often. But please be very careful and start in small amounts as top dressing around the plant's, as you can burn them very easily. I like to use chicken poop tea, I take a few shovel fulls and put it in a 1/2 55 gal drum and fill it with water. Stir for a couple of weeks and keep adding more water, fill your can waterer and have at it. apply once evry 2 wks. This will give you the right amount and the tea will disapate the amonia which garners a ton of nitro. Some plants don't like to much fertilizer!!!!

My WCB Polish did the exact same thing, I think it is just a "thing" they have

For a couple of days the little gal was dragging around, then one evening I find her on her side with both her legs stretched out (this is not a normal position for a chicken!). I give her a drink of water, and divide off a little corner of the brooder so she can die in peace (

). I check on her the next morning, expecting to have a Polish to bury, and she is up and running around, asking why she isn't with her friends!

That's one thing these kids' bunny rabbits are good for.......
Just shovel up a bucket of "it" and then sling it out there and
forget it..........LOL

Go figure, a neighbor up the highway "blessed" them with
three kittens. So, if it's not bunny rabbits in the livingroom....
it's kittens !!!!! I'll worry about it and clean up this mess when
TJ turns 18........ Or maybe the highway will come on through
and I can just load up my good stuff and they can clean up....
or bomb...the rest of it.......

Ok, am trying to remember what was supposed to be on my
list..........We're meeting OKRobin on the way and picking up
three bantams for Teach.....bringing what EE eggs we can
find for Teach and OKLigntening....bringing two doe rabbits
home from P&B's.....??????? Does anybody need any big
brown CinnamonQueen/EE cross eggs for hatching super
good laying hens? Could bring about 3 dozen of those.

We'll be leaving out mid-morning tomorrow.

Have a good one !
