I don't know how "Chicken themed" it is, but as a historical reenactor, I do all sorts of handmade stuff, lye soap, blacksmitheed stuff, etc... how inappropriatly not-chicken do you think I can get away with?

That would still be a fantastic donation! Thanks, I will add you to my list

Hi guys- here is a question on my BA duchess, she is now this side of comatose, she is in and out, she'll be aware and then sink into a sleep like- started out with a limp, gradually becoming unable to walk or keep her balance, her legs are strong she tries to stand and then throws herself backwards- any ideas on this? and while i am asking, would a couple benadryl put a chicken down humanely?

on the subject of hatching, what is the most economical way to hatch just a few?

There was thread on here last year or maybe people were just talking about it, but a woman successfully incubated an egg in her bra.

And that is all have to say bout that.

I finally broke down and pulled the chick having problems out of the bator. Turns out it has wry neck, or so I think. It's head is twisted to the left slightly, but it is enough to mess with its balance. It is doing a lot better on solid ground instead of the wire. Here is a pic of it. You can't see the problem but it is a cute pic, even if it is fuzzy. I'll also add a pic of the ones in the brooder.

I heard it was City...but it was a quail egg...and that is all I have to say about that...

Grace - call it 6 chicks...will see what i have when I get there! Nothing like starting them out young!!!

Gotta go feed

smfamf Try the enfamil liquid baby vitamins without the added iron. Use one drop twice daily on the chick and see if that helps. Sometimes they just get cramped up in the shell and the extra vitamins can help it out.
