Look away P&B! Look in the mirror and recite your sig line...if the person in the mirror says "but chicks are cool" you're doomed!

I think my desire to get birds out of the house will help me overcome my insane desire to hatch more chicks - but I sure hope I don't see a whole dozen wheaten marans for a really cheap price.

It would be nice to get chickens out of the house until after the holidays, wouldn't it? I'm doomed .... just added more eggs to the incubator today. I have an enabler that lives with me though ... he put more eggs in after I did

The rest of the eggs are going to Blanchard on Saturday!!! Or, I might try posting some on the BYC auction thread.

When you said big hair and spandex, that's the song that came into my head, too. Poor Stimpy - he's probably listening to it now...

Nope, right now it's "Sanctuary" by Terrence Howard (yes, Terrence Howard the actor).

Okay P&B...I'm making a note on my desk calendar: "On this 25th Day of November, in the year 2009, Poultryand bees hereby stated her full intention to cease and desist from hatching fowl of Any Sort in her incubator for the remainder of this calendar year." So it is written, so let it be done. (Unless you get some really cool eggs that you just can't let get by - then all proclamations are off!!)

I don't know, do you think she can make it 36 days?

Sorry Monty, I'm really not hiding out. It is a three day work week at the office so I am trying to get everything done. I might be on more today we will see.

Hope everyone is having a great day getting ready for Thanks Giving!!!

what do you have in the incubator?

Also, glad you have the "vote for Anne" link in your signature line. I don't know who she is, but she sure is pretty and wouldn't it be cool if her BYC community could put her in first place by everyone voting for her daily?

I try to remember to cast a vote for her each morning, but have missed a few days.

I am hoping to make it until the ducks and guineas and turkeys start laying eggs in the Spring.

I have more 8 inch tall chickens running around than I can count - that were hatched by broodies. I do not want anymore chickens - but can't wait for some of the beautiful EEs that I got from Carla as eggs and hatched under a broody last Spring to start laying. Of all my EE looking chickens, I only have one right now that lays a pale green egg. The others lay a pink egg or nothing at all.

Marybeth...when a broody hatches the eggs how do I handle things with the chicks. I have my very first silkie/silkies sitting on a dozen eggs. I know she'll take care of them but do I just put chick starter in the pen with them and she'll know to take them there?

I don't mean to sound dumb but I don't have a clue what to do. I have had more fun watching those silkies taking care of the eggs. I have a showgirl that is the main mamma...then when she gets up a black silkie goes over and takes over and starts re-arranging all the eggs the way she wants them and she then sits on them. I had no idea they tag team. I love watching it and have been trying to get a chance for my baby grandaughters to get to see it....no success yet.

Any help you or anyone else could give me would be great. I'm sure I'm worring for nothing but just want to do it right.

We'll be leaving in the morning to go to Branson for the weekend. We have a family tradition of going to Silver Dollar City at this time. There will be about 20 or so of us. We always have a blast. My grandkids are big enough to ride now and they are so excited. I have one grandaughter that is the ride queen and the faster and wilder the better. She cries when she's too short to ride. LOL

Everyone have a great Thanksgiving. Be Safe and God Bless,

Donna

Morning fellow OKIES,

Another day and another bag of feed GONE!... Man they sure eat alot despite foraging in the grass we have for them... Jason was saying they are killing us here, (not really), but I am wondering if the quality of the feed is being wasted more than consumed and nutrient bound into their bellies, if that makes sense. Anyhoot enough of the feed rant. How you all doing this fine fall morning...Tomorrow is the day! I wonder how many of our fowl friends are going to look at us differently once they know we enjoy eating their tasty cousins.lol

After all Stimpy is just say'in

Jeannie
