If you wear the Carhart overalls to bed like Monty, you won't have to put on mulitiple layers of clothing in the middle of the night like Henny - so you can go outside and annoy the chickens who were just getting comfortable - by moving them in the middle of the night.

I went to the good will & salvation army store. I paid .50 to 1.00 for them. I have one big one and two med size ones if you don't find any that I can bring to Shawnee, just let me know. I didn't find any of the large tin's in any of the stores that I checked all they had were the med. size. I got the light kit at walmart because it was cheaper than Lowes.

I'm new here and haven't learned how to keep up with this thread. It seems to go in all directions. I want to know more about the heaters. What kind of tins? Sorry to be so slow. You guys are a HOOT!

It takes some getting use to because we talk so much! As for the cookie tin heaters I posted a link above that even has pictures. Just click on the link and it should take you to the first page of the post over in feeding & watering your flock here on the BYC.

In case I haven't said it already:

Well I must have been out in this stuff too much, here it is 21 deg. outside and I had to ditch my coat for a light jacket.

Just got hoses thawed out and am watering the critters with it instead of buckets.

For me it is much cheaper to just take the time and dump out ice and re-fill twice daily. I would need a bunch of those heaters and the watts would really add up fast.
