I will be in Nashville next month. I just thought I would ask about where you live. I will be flying for the first time and I will be alone. It kinda scares me. I don't like to be without friends or family. I have to be surrounded all the time. I guess I am just a social person.

Anyone wanna come get my roos and take them to the auction!?

Hello I too breed silkies ( just started) and i just hatched out some white bearded silkies and one of the chicks had its head tilted almost upside down, which scared me because i just lost their dad (roo) and this was his first chicks and he all of a sudden had his head upside down like it was broke or something and i didnt know what happend to him and it just got worse over 3 days and then he died. Poor thing I couldnt bring myself to put him down. I was heart broke

The Oklahoma City School District and the Tulsa School district have closed schools for Thursday and Friday, because of concerns about the safety of children standing outside to wait for buses in the single digit temperatures that are predicted.

P&B and Henny Over here most of the auctions want you to bring the birds in a container that goes with the birds. That way there is no shuffling of birds( which is where a lot disappear!). I have seen them in boxes with wire tops,5 gallon buckets with wire tops, milk crates with wire tops and all manner of throwed together wier cages. If a cage is really really nice sometimes they will sell the cage separate, then you have to move the birds. Also I have heard you all talk about picking a bird out of a lot, here you bid on one bird and have to take all in the cage at that price, highest bid*the number of birds== price. I wish we could pick and choose here.

The Prague auction sells the cage with the bird, so I have seen what amounts to a tube of wire with some straw in the bottom, the milk crates with wire on top, and beat up pet carriers. I bought some peacocks in some clever homemade cages made with 1x1 wood and chicken wire a few years ago and had to use a screwdriver to get them out of the cage.

Carah - I'll let you know how the roads are here tomorrow and what the prognosis is for Friday. I'm taking Titus to the vet at 7:30 in the a.m. for his teeth to be cleaned, so I'll be able to tell you firsthand if there's anything exciting going on out there. I just went outside and put more bedding in the hen house and shut the pop door. It's still 35 degrees here and I didn't feel anything falling out of the sky, so we'll see how things go!

My folks always told me not to get into cars with strangers UNLESS they offered me candy.

at the chupps auction ive seen every kind of cage you can imagine.the asians buy big cages of chickens all the time an dont have room for the big ones in their cars so i always follow behind them an gather them all up.thats probally why i have about 40 cages stacked around my chicken yard.some of the cages are nice.

I work for thinks it is a good idea to send all new employees away for a class. It is a one day class that discusses the company and its history. It has absolutely nothing to do with the actual work that we do. They choose to send you somewhere away from home for 3 days. I'd rather not go, but it has to be done.

Thanks City, I am going to St. Francis won't know what time until tomorrow, crazy thing that you don't find out the time until the day before. No telling what time we will get home but since school is out he isnt' missing anything and I don't have to worry about picking the other two up.

I would go in a heart beat. I would find something I could do or see while I am there too. I like adventure.
