Hello everyone!
Hope you and your chickies are all keepin your buns warm! That wind is blowing like crazy, my mom thought it was thundering. Our power has already gone out once, and I don't have a flash light! What kind of chicken owner doesn't have a flash light!? I am ashamed.

Got the heat lamp set up for my chickies. One of my EE's has either decided she's braver, or that she likes me. When I go to see them she actually runs to me with the Marans now. So sweet.

the company
I work for thinks it is a good idea to send all new employees away for a class. It is a one day class that discusses the company and its history. It has absolutely nothing to do with the actual work that we do. They choose to send you somewhere away from home for 3 days. I'd rather not go, but it has to be done.

I would go in a heart beat. I would find something I could do or see while I am there too. I like adventure.

I would spend all my spare time in the state archives, digging up dead people, as my little brother calls it. I have a lot of family from TN, and there is a valley down in Bradley County named for my gr gr gr grandfather. Mainly because he owned most of it. He had 5 sons who fought in the civil war, three for the South, two for the North. Only three came home, one died for the North, one for the South.

Weakley county is named for a cousin, Col. Robert Weakley, a hero of the battle of Kings Mountain in the American Revolution. He is buried in Nashville.

Yup, in a heart beat.

Nah, I stay in when it gets this cold outside. My mom just raised one dummy, and he works at Tinker. I normally prefer cold weather but I'm ready for a break. This is crazy cold.

Yeah Cammie, I have to go get some new coveralls Friday. I have a dr's appointment that morning, I'll go after that. I hate shopping!

insulated bib overalls and a hooded coat by Carhart is what my hubby bought me for Christmas in 2008.

He didn't like it that I was putting on thermals and sweaters under my coat to stay warm. I didn't wear the overalls until last week, because they are a little long. When we had all that snow on the ground I figured out that I could zip the legs down to the hem and then roll them up about 3 inches and there is a snap on both sides of the leg to help take up some of the bulkyness of the rolled part, so it stays up. Now, I have to be careful not to get too hot when I wear them. I can deal with that inconvenience.

Ok...who's idea was it to help folks get addicted to these darn chickens? Whoever it was should be shot. LOL We just came in from moving about 25 birds to a barn at my mom's house. Hope it does some good. We had to just put them in cages. We had two baby pig warmers we put down on the cement to try to help keep them warm. So if that doesn't work then I don't know what else we could do.

I love winter and snow but this is gone beyond fun. The wind has started blowing big time here....spitting snow and sleet. I can't get warm from being outside...and I'm very hot natured. This storm stuff has been making me really study out how to build the hen house at our new place.

If anyone has to go out tomorrow be careful. I'm going to go snuggle under a fleece blanket. My feet are cold and I can't get warm sitting here.
