No RIR should throw a black chick.... Give him a little bit, if it should have feathered legs then it will be a little difficult to see the black fuzz on an new baby with black legs while still in the bator drying.
Well, he has been moved to the brooder and is definitely black with black legs and beak and no feathers on the legs. However, I have also noticed two of the Cochins toes are stuck together on each foot. They look totally formed, but skin keeps the two toes together on both feet. I have never seen this before so now I don't know what to do about these two little chicks. So we have 5 Partridge Cochins, 5 RIR, 1 Porcelain D'Uccle, and 1 black mystery chick in the brooder, with 4 Porcelain D'Uccles, 3 Partridge Cochins still in the bator drying. I can see that there are definitely 2 more D'Uccles, and a RIR hatching.
that there are more on the way that I can't tell through the window.
So that puts up to the count of 5 D'Uccles fully hatched (2 more hatching right now),
Kate,
I have a partridge cochin pullet that I bought from Ideal hatchery that has the same thing going on with her feet. The first and middle toe are webbed together but she gets around just fine.
Congrats on the hatch!!!
Must keep telling my self, no hatching chicken eggs this year, no hatching chicken eggs this year. Ahh what was I saying again???
