I know Sandhill Preservation offers them as day old chicks.

You have found a wonderful group of folks and helping others find the poultry they need or didn't know they needed it until they bought it - is what we do best. Is there a particular breed you are seeking? Do you want to get them at auctions or from individuals? What age range are you seeking, i.e. would you consider laying hens if they were no older than ????

I guess I need to read some history on them, because I am having trouble thinking of those as a "heritage" breed.

Oops, I haven't seen mine yet..... I hope they just got left in the truck!

I hope everyone that took birds really likes them, I was happy to see them go to people I know will take care of them. Sooner's little girl got the most I think, she took all 5 of the BB Reds (3 stags & 2 hens), a Blue stag, and that cute little Quail d'Anvers! She seemed pretty happy. It was good to see everyone again, and a real pleasure to meet Nana & Bill. I was gonna try & talk him out of that beautiful walkin stick he was carrying but figured I'd never get it away from him.

When we left the show we went to eat at the Dutch Pantry, it's a GREAT Amish buffet. Then we drove over to the Chupps auction, didn't see Donna or anyone but there were a lot of people there. Q, if you think that was a big auction come back when it warms up a little, it's even bigger!

Just a new variety for an old breed.

i was wondering- maybe a 'stray' wandered in from a neighbor flock???

I am unaware of anyone in this area with any variety of turkeys - but several years ago we received phone calls on a regular basis from neighbors telling us our turkeys were out and running across a busy street a few blocks from us. Turned out that they were wild turkeys and they were running through a creek bed and into a residential neighborhood. The Dept of Wildlife had to rehome those turkeys because they received so many complaints from folks about the turkeys getting on their patio and leaving unwelcome "gifts."

I am convinced that folks have dropped roosters over my fence before, but this is my first unexplained arrival of a tom turkey. I am not complaining - just bewildered.

Hey Q : I spent Saturday day with the family of my good friend that passed on Friday, then went and put a smile on my face with my chicken buddies at the Cement auction. Today I worked some on my garden layin in chicken manure and relaxing a bit.

I am not sure where Slaughterville is but I am sure we have some folks out your way who can help. Mid April gives you plenty of time so don't sweat it, you'll get em.
