Hello all ya'll Okies!

Been a while since we have been on. We have been so busy. Had 20+ Adults and children at our house yesterday for Easter festivities.. Hot Dogs, Hamburgers, Chips and a big easter egg hunt... Yes, even the adults hunted eggs that were hidden by the youngsters. It really wasnt fair, cause it was dark before they hid our eggs so they were hard to find... next year I am thinking Glow in the Dark paint... LOL We enjoyed having Barn Swallow, Chicken Flavored Cook-E and thier youngsters over yesterday!

DH just returned back to work today after having been on leave for 3 weeks straight. He is already planning his leave so we can be at P.O.O.P.S. I just have to find someone who can feed our critters friday evening and Saturday, So that we can arrive friday evening.

Its Hot and sticky today. Turned our A/C on today for the first time in the house. House cleaning was more of a workout, with sweat dripping... Not Happening... I GIVE UP!

In the words of my 14 year old.. OMG I have to have that....
I so need a Frizzle.... Frizzle anything....
My thoughts standard are not Hawk bait... You all remember
the stupid hawk from last year... I hate Hawks...
BUT bantams are smaller and take up less space...

BYC friends....I need to know something. I see that people sell their "mutt" chicks that they hatch out for around $1.50-$2.00. I have special breeds like silkies, polish, welsummers, buff orps, etc. I don't know what is a good price. I've got to get rid of some of these soon.

I have around 90 that are a week old, and around 105 hopefully coming out tomorrow. More coming out next week, and set 105 yesterday and about 200 set at school that I have to take. My DH thinks I'm crazy but I just can't stand to see eating the eggs when they can make a baby chick.

My eggs have been so dirty from the mud or I would have tried to sell some of the the eggs for hatching....which was the original game plan. Can someone give me advice on how to go about handling this. I had intended to put them on Craigslist but now I'm not sure which I want to keep. LOL

HELP! I'm an addict and I'm about to go crazy. LOL

I have both standard & bantam. I keep them in separate housing although I had one hen that stayed in with the standards & never had any trouble.

I prefer standard & have only gotten bantams for my DD because they are easier for her to handle when working with them & when they have table shows at our local club. I hope at some point she will try to show standards but it isn't important if she doesn't.

I could bring some to POOPS I guess but I would have a hard time keeping them warm...and I'm sure not taking them inside my cabin and listen to them peep all night. MY DH is bad enough sounding like a bear protecting her little ones when he snores. LOL

The top reason I raise Bantams is their size! If you are used to Large Fowl, with Bantams - you can keep more of them on your same amount of land, you can feed more of them with the same amount of feed, and you can haul more of them with the same number of carriers!

I own chickens for two reasons... eggs and meat. Bantams have less meat and (I assume) smaller eggs.

Nothing against bantams. Just not my thing.

I had a good Easter Stimp...worked a bunch on the coop and went to a bird auction

I raise bantams mainly because of what Grace said...you get more in the same space!

Plus large fowl drool bantams rule!!!

Glad to hear it Teach. Mine was pretty good as well.

Bantams are purely ornamental, but a really great part of the hobby. When I get birds again, they will probably be bantams.
