Okies in the BYC The Original

Glad everyone is doing ok. We had some funnels over this way too. My friend saw two of them over McAlester, one of which went a mile and a half north of our house. One was spotted four miles south of McAlester. Luckily, none of them touched down.

Six years ago, one went right over us. I guess it wasn't all the way down. It uprooted bodark trees, turned over railroad cars, came over us and took out our big cedars and took every shingle off the roof. The top of my father-in-laws old barn was never found.

Again, I'm glad everyone made it through the storms.

Glad everyone is Ok.... And thanks for all the calls checking on us.
We didnt get any damage to our home or property. There was a tornado that touched down about a mile from our home so we are lucky. We are out of power for the next couple of days. there are power lines down in the lake in both of the twin lakes. I was in yukon when the first one hit up there. I drove home with a storm behind me and a storm infront of me. I heard on the radio where Choctaw Rd had been closed down and had to exit off Anderson Rd. It took me an hour and a half to find a route home due to the damage of the area I was in. I will be off and on the computer since we are working of the generator right now.

We are suppose to be hit with the storms again sometime after 3PM. Except it is suppose to include the folks in the western side of the state this time as well. Lets pray they are wrong... Everyone be safe!

Just wanted to let everyone know that we are okay. From about 7:15-8:15 we stayed at our town's new safe room in the school. There was supposedly rotation in the clouds above us during that time. At 8:15 they said that one storm had passed and another was about an hour away so we could stay there or go back home then. We went back home. When the next storm came through there was this continual noise (for about 10 minutes) it was either almost constant thunder or some kind of rotation, at that point we didn't want to go back to the safe room so we just went into the safest room in our house. By 10:30 even the rain had quit so we went to bed.
So except for the scariness, all that we got was a pretty short thunder storm with wind.

Does anyone have information regarding Jack C.? He is the man in the wheelchair who attends the Blanchard auction, many other local auctions and was at POOPS. I got a PM from OldMotherHen (wife of Chiclooker) asking about Jack, since he is in the Choctaw area not too far from the KOA.

OldMotherHen (Donice) and KC are fine - her parents were camping North of Okemah last night and spent the evening in the restrooms for shelter. Some of you have met Donice's parents at the Blanchard auction.

Michael Daugherty sent me a text, indicating that Bob Cook lost all his barns and pens last night. He is taking all his birds to Maud tonight, for the sale there on Thursday, since he doesn't have any place to keep them. Some of you know Bob Cook as the older fellow with a beard, usually wears coveralls and a striped railroad style ball cap, sells birds at Mary's every weekend and is the person at the Prague auction on Friday who is in charge of the birds in the alley behind the auction and who sets the price in on the birds when they go through the ring on Saturday at Prague.

Sounds like there will be a lot of birds at Maud this Thursday night.

sorry to hear about all the damages , and i hope jack is okay as well , keep us all posted if anyone hears from him ...... .thanks for the warning on the storms for today , summer is here in oklahoma now ... lovely tornado seasons

Be careful if your walkin shower has a glass door. During the May 3, '99 tornado, friends of ours took refuge in their walkin shower and were horrified to have the glass door break all over them. Be sure everyone is wearing shoes with a good solid sole.

thanks for the update
the original quote had "nonsense" at the bottom of the list of counties and I was wondering where that county was located

This is Oklahoma - where the wind comes sweeping down the plain - sometimes as gale force straight winds and sometimes as swirling winds that have a "Force Factor" attached to them by the media.

Central Oklahoma looks very pleasant right now - light breeze and scattered clouds.
