thanks for the update
the original quote had "nonsense" at the bottom of the list of counties and I was wondering where that county was located

This is Oklahoma - where the wind comes sweeping down the plain - sometimes as gale force straight winds and sometimes as swirling winds that have a "Force Factor" attached to them by the media.

Central Oklahoma looks very pleasant right now - light breeze and scattered clouds.

I edited the original post. I didn't notice it until you were posting. We were typing at the same time.

It is pretty nice here. It is hot, not much wind, and scattered clouds. I kinda wish the wind would pickup just a little. We don't need the 70 mph that we had yesterday, but it would be nice to have some to cut the heat.

Dark Clouds are building. Air is cooling down. Storm South of Woodward. In Case we lose power and cant check in on the computer. There are several who have our phone numbers. Al, Steph, carl, and others.

Don't know why, but our cell phones wouldn't work last night. Neither would our cordless phones ( that require electricity). We finally found an OLD cord type phone that just needed a phone jack to work.

The cell services were having "issues" last night.

It is always a good idea to keep an "old fashioned" telephone available when the electricity goes out. Cordless phones need electricity to operate (which is why you have to plug something into an electrical outlet AND the phone jack)

There is enough electricity running through the copper wires of landline telephones to operate the telephone even when you don't have electricity, provided you have a telephone that ONLY needs the telephone jack. The electricity comes from the central office of the land line telephone company and companies are required to have a backup source of electricity at the central office to run the telephones in case the central office loses electricity.

Sorry We have no Home Phone. Just Cells.

Peaches - like an ever growing part of the population, your "home phone" is cellular service rather than land line service.

In all seriousness, if you take shelter in a shower with a glass door, be sure to cover yourselves with blankets in case the roof of the house lifts - because it was the roof lifting and then being set back down on the house that caused the windows and shower stall door to break on our friends. The shower stall door was tempered glass, so it came down in small pieces like the back window of your car when it breaks, but not everyone had thought to wear shoes that had a thick sole to them and that posed a problem as they had to walk over the glass on the bathroom floor as they made their way to the outside of the house after the tornado passed.

I am getting ready to go home. Still no electric there. I need to go buy gas to run a generator. I'm trying to save a freezer full of food. We may have to have a "melted freezer party" if I don't get power soon.

Bye, All.

Wrap the freezer in quilts and don't open the door - it should stay frozen for several days if it is just a freezer rather than a refrigerator/freezer combination.

Be safe
