For those of you who don't realize it, Robin is our own Chicken Rehabilitation angel. The pretty Wyandotte pullet she posted about belonged to Okiegirl and couldn't get up after being attacked by a dog at Okiegirl's place. Robin offered to take the injured chicken, so Okiegirl brought her to POOPS. Great job, Robin - it looks like your care and nursing is doing the pretty pullet good. My hat is off to you for having the patience and time to spend with her!

now your making me blush.... can't turn my back on any fluffy if they have a chance.... she is a funny one!

Hi Beth,

No river through my pens, to my surprise, but some of them are fairly wet. When it REALLY rains, it does sometimes actually rush throught pens, scouring out any chips that are in there. We got lucky this time; much-needed rain, but not too, too much. The sun is shining right now.

Knew it! A severe thunderstorm watch has just been issued, effective until 9 pm, for the following counties

Adair Blaine Canadian
Cherokee Cleveland Creek
Garfield Haskell Hughes
Kingfisher Latimer Le Flore
Lincoln Logan Major
Mayes Mcintosh Muskogee
Noble Okfuskee Oklahoma
Okmulgee Osage Pawnee
Payne Pittsburg Pottawatomie
Rogers Seminole Sequoyah
Tulsa Wagoner

There is a shed attached to the flight pen. Sure hope that mama hen is bright enough to go inside with her chicks if it starts raining.

Hello all, I'm Stew and I just joined the site today. To respond to the previous post regarding the weather. I am in a patrol car in the Harrah area and this storm shouldn't be anything like what we had recently. May see some high winds and hail but so far no real rotation. I have a backyard flock of cochins and am very interested in getting some showbirds for my girls if anyone can help. Hope everyone stays safe and If I can be of service to any of you please don't hesitate to PM me.
Thanks,
Stew and K9 partner Ajo...

Hey NN Guess what?

I have aquired 5 NN Hens.... I think Doc has Kinda Learn To like them. He told me right after I bought them, "Those things are so gentle." Never thought I would ever hear it. I think he might like them....

We just got home from Purcell, where our sons were watching drag boat racing and camping. Had to pull oldest son's camper home for him. While we were gone, we got pea sized hail and a lot of rain, but other than some shredded leaves we don't seem to have any damage.

You have found a wonderful group of folks who either live in Oklahoma or wish that they lived in Oklahoma

What kind of chickens are you looking for, as showbirds for your daughters? Bantams or large fowl? Feathers on the legs or bare legs? Heritage breeds or fancy breeds?

One thing about this group, we have some folks who are addicted to hatching chickens, attending poultry auctions and acquiring birds and one of the things we do best is help our BYC find birds that they are looking for and some they didn't know they were looking for.

Some would call us "enablers" as if that is a bad thing

Hello everyone. We have been busy this weekend. We got a lot of work done at the other house.

We took a page from the "Great Book of Al" and started this around 2:30.

After dinner we checked on it and this is how it looked.

Yes, we left it unattended for the evening, but in our defense, there is two members of the fire department living on the same block and they were keeping an eye on it. They kept a fire truck handy, but it was never needed.

We found a good-sized hive of honey bees on the backside of the burn pile. We made a few calls and Donice's (oldmotherhen) father came and relocated them to a hive at his house. I wouldn't mind keeping a hive at the house, but Jordan is allergic to them and I just can't take that chance.

Hello Stew (& Ajo)! You're in the right place. There are a few peeps on here who can help you get your girls started showing - are they interested in showing anything besided cochins? Are your current cochins bantams or standards? Are you a member of the Law Enforcement Torch Run? (I'm asking because I volunteer with Special Olympics Oklahoma and was in Stillwater this past week for the Summer Games - LETR is always a big part of our week.) Anyway - glad you're here!
