This is what I use and do the same thing, except I move the birds out and into cages then dunk them into the left over solution and swish them around a little before putting them back into the pen's. Works great I do this once a yr need it or not, I have never had any lingering pest but I am a big advocate of prevention first.

Greybear, I am afraid that if I got up that early there wouldn't be enough coffee in the world to keep me going! I guess it is something you have gotten use to, I on the other hand have a problem getting up at 6am.

Morning all you Okies, I will do my best to send out the recipe this afternoon!! If you need a shopping list: Cream of mushroom soup, onion, squash, cream cheese & round crackers.

Sorry for the noob question, but what's the Permethrin for?

It has a range of uses but will kill mites, lice, ticks & will greatly reduce flyes ect. You can spray the coop, yard & bird

Sorry for the noob question, but what's the Permethrin for?

It is a pesticide used for a variety of uses but mainly as an animal dip, but when used in a pump sprayer it will kill anything that fly's or crawls instantly, Sometimes if the fly infestation get's bad after a rain or under dropping boards I just spray the fly's and they drop right where they fly and this also keeps them from multiplying. It is easy to mix and use in the garden sprayer and with follow up use of DE regularly you can be pest free year round with little effort.

Good.

I took Montana to work with me yesterday and wore him out. Peaches picked him up at noon and he slept until I got in from work yesterday afternoon.

Sooner - Just the shopping list for the squash recipe sounds good to me - I look forward to seeing how it all goes together!

Robin - your link and web page look great - I hope to see your BYC banner up soon. I am proud to own the wonderful little painting of the Partridge Cochin that is shown on your site - it's in my dining room.

It is super hot and heavy and green and smells like a jungle outside. I'll let it dry out a bit before I get out and mow...

Hey, y'all! Check out my new acquisitions. These are some Freedom Ranger meat birds I just picked up from Mike. One is a Red and the other a Tricolor. The pic at the bottom shows one of my new Buckeye's from bfrancis, which is about the same age as the Rangers at 12 weeks, for perspective. The Buckeye is not hatchery stock but from a good breeder.

I now have 5 FR cockerels. One of these bad boys is going in my breeding program.

Hey Ka-ben good to see you on here again! Hows your summer going?

bfrancis I think you are refering to the buff brahma bantam. They are not a cochin but are in the brahma bantam family. They are usually very good setters and mothers. Fair layers, more prone to set. The are harder feathered than the cochin breed. Their leg feathers are not as profound and their stance is more upright. They make a very nice ,quiet low maintenance breed for the hooby farmer. Brahma bantams come in light(which is white withe black markings) and dark, which is grey and black mixture much like the partridge pattern. Hope this helps.
