Lynn I was looking at the pics of your birds from last night,
I was gonna say Claret too, especially the hen but now I sound like a copycat.
Anyway i am glad some folks were able to ID them.
We mostly had Brown Reds and Clarets on our place when I was growing up. My dad loves Clarets. He always called the hens buckskins.
When I got older I added several other kinds like Warhorse, Roundheads, Black Shufflers and Copperback Doms. We also had Hatch, and a few Greys.
I still think they are the prettiest of all chicken breeds.

They still sold dirt cheap at less than $1.25 each, but I have those that Sjarvis sold me for the kindergarten class and decided against acquiring more right now. I gave all the chicks I bought last night to a friend, so they are already rehomed for someone else to feed and water.

Three ducklings hatched in my incubator today and I am sitting on my hands to refrain from opening the incubator, since there are a couple more duck eggs that were set the same day. I gave the two ducks that hatched last week to a friend at my office, since there is a turkey poult that hatched at the same time and it is a challenge to keep a brooder dry when there are ducklings. I was more interested in the health of the poult and didn't want to start yet another brooder. I guess I will have to do just that tomorrow however, since I want to keep these ducklings and the poult will need its own warm (and dry) place.

Thanks for that PnB. He was a real trooper for the longest time, but it got too much for him. He finally won the match and there are still a few left. He's just too strong and quick. Can't hold his head still even when I have him backed into a corner.

I'll have to take him to the vet tomorrow and have the last removed, poor guy.

There were people that showed up even after I went to bed.

Al got sick at the auction and had to leave early. Haven't heard from him since. Hope he is OK.
I think he may be over doing it with work and worry about DD. She is his world.

Just wait until I get back, we can party then. Everybody will be invited for the "Big SHow".

How did you manage to get the night off? Pretty nice to have additional time off, huh.

Morning Doc, Sooner, Artsy and everyone else I am still half a sleep to go back a read posts!

Chickens are out, well some of them decided they wanted to stay in the coop for a while longer and sleep. Don't really blame them I am still struggling to stay awake.

It is really nice out there right now. Probably should go get some work done while it is cool.

Anyone have any thing totally awesome planned today or is it just another Monday?

Well I am going to go get some work done.

Morning all : Sounds like everybody had a great weekend and all the Dad's got to have fun.

Sorry about Saturday Doc & Peaches Don't know what hit me but it came on fast and hard, I would have loved to make it out to the ponderosa but as it was I barely made it home. Sure was nice to see everybody again though.
