I never have sen anu NN over there. There were a lot of Egytpians and a heavy meat bird that I didn't recognize.

I promise to take pictures of every chicken I see in Afghanistan. The last time I was there I didn't see any chickens

running loose but we bought a couple of them from a market that they had roasted. Shred the meat and mix some

onions and tomatoes together, mix it and put inside some ducha bread, sprinkle with some Seasonal. Great lunch.

Seasonal should be an issued item, even makes MREs taste good.

Be sure that you always walk into the coop with confidence! Head held high and walk assertively...your roo has decided that you are low in the pecking order.

Also be sure that you don't have anything that "flaps" like a dress or shirt that flutters or even a feed sack--they aren't too bright sometimes and flapping things can be perceived as an airborne threat like a hawk or owl swooping in to get one of his girls.

Our roo is HUGE--about 14 pounds...he has only in the last few weeks become more protective of his girls, but I believe it is because we have had to handle each hen nearly every day and their surprised squawking upsets him...and I don't blame him at all...he is SUPPOSED to protect his girls and we are a threat as far as he is concerned. But luckily he hasn't flogged us, just "growling" and charging at us. When he does it I walk at him VERY assertively and "drive" him around the run--he seems to get the idea and carries his hat in his hand for the rest of the time we are out there.

Peaches ,yes we will have to fix up a nn carepackage just for him!lol If we don't quit he may not want to come home!lol. Just pickin on ya Sarge!Do hope hope you send a lot of pics home tho. They are bound to have some critters over there.

How is your backyard Monty?

My backyard looks like a muddy mess. It is also hot and steamy. We had a thunderstorm come through and let everything a mess. Now it is muggy out. Got all the RIR chicks out in the juvenile coop now. The only chicks in the house are the baby Seramas and booted bantams. I would still like to know what these are! Could the nice person that donated the eggs for the centerpieces at POOPS let me know what the possibilities are?

Carah--can you take an oatmeal bath or shower? Coooooool water too--warm makes rashes worse because it opens up your pores...mainly you want to get whatever is offending your skin to be washed off...also try aloe gel--soothing and cooling--good luck!

My backyard by the house is looking pretty good for mowed weeds!

The barnyard is looking nicer by the day but still a little rough from getting the waterline laid. I was sad to see the grass we worked so hard to get to grow on the bare earth get dug up by the track hoe for the waterline but ohhhhhh myyyyy was the end result worth it!

In the barnyard, my old mare is looking very well for a horse of her age--she is 29--and that pleases me to look at more than anything else...she is my baby--I have had her since I was 19 and she and I did it all together--I have had her longer than I have had Vern and our kids! She is just a sweatheart and as long as she is alive she will be with me.

I know..Igot all mushy huh!?

OK, fun's over for me--time to scamper off to bed so I can get back in my 6th floor tower at Saints downtown before anyone else is up...I like to get there early and mess with the a/c before anyone else is there...ahhhhhh a/c is the best invention ever!

G'nite peeps...I'll be on in the morning. Peaceful and restful sleep to you all.
