Good morning!
I was doing my late night feeding and now am going to do some early morning cleaning before taking a nap in the heat of the day. Since I am on furlough today, I might as well enjoy my cool morning without the pressure of needing to get to the office.
Hope those hives get better.

Will your doctor prescribe something stronger than Benadryl to help out with the itchiness?

Carah, if you're still breaking out, a trip to the doctor might be in order. Is it affecting your breathing at all? Sometimes an allergic reaction will do both, but it should be getting better, not worse. With this much reaction, it also might be well to find out just what is causing it, as subsequent reactions might be worse. Hope you're better soon.

Well said.
Carah - we are always fussing at the guys to take care of themselves and go to the doctor - if you haven't already been, now is a good time to go.

morning guys and gals!

coffees on! i'm awake and ready to get some chores done before it gets hot
got all the chickens dosed with ivomec, and made an neat discovery- when the mite eggs are not coming off the chicken- douse the area with skin so soft lotion, and that loosens them and they come off! they need to market that! i was prepared to trim the butt feathers off, but it worked...

hey carah, have you tried taking a bath with baking soda in it? dump the whole box of soda in the tub and soak in it, it might help...

Les,

Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!

My Girls Came down off the roost last night to check out Blue Berry.
He Began Sweet talking them girls immediately.

We will see what happens. But once again, Thank You!

Carah--can you take an oatmeal bath or shower? Coooooool water too--warm makes rashes worse because it opens up your pores...mainly you want to get whatever is offending your skin to be washed off...also try aloe gel--soothing and cooling--good luck!

thanks! I took a cold shower & that was when I figured out I was breaking out with hives, I have no idea what is causing it but benedryal has given me some relief but I am still itchy. I have never done this before & I haven't changed anything (shampoo, soap ect) or ate anything new today or yesterday.

Every time I have had hives it has been from stress...and it is miserable! I have haad to goto the doc to get prednisone (a steroid) to make the hives come under control! My ears and eyes swelled shut, it was just awful. Take care of yourself Sooner!

I am going to make up a first-aid kit for my chickens. This last round of sickness has made me acutely aware of how unprepared we are for such events. So, what do you guys always have on hand "just in case"?? I think I will even get a tool box to keep all of the goodies in...I have a decent collection of supplies started up already...but just thought I would check with you guys to see what you have on hand for those (always) dreadful events where a bird is hurt, sick or just "not quite right"...so what medications, supplements, tools, etc do you have?

Thanks peeps!

I love skin so soft! I have used it diluted with water in the bard as a fly repellent...it works but must be reapplied often. But at least I know that none of the little peeps will be harmed by it!

When my daughter was 9 or so, she came home with head lice--so we treated with the store bought lice treatments. They worked but every month for almost the whole school year she cam home with them again. Finally she broke down and told me that she was sharing her hairbrush with a girl in her class that didn't have one (this girl was VERY poor and negelected by her parents). I couldn't get mad, of course, because DD was trying to help this girl. BUT once we knew the cause I educated Kayla and I bought this girl a hairbrush of her own. But the best thing was--I discovered that if I doused Kayla's hair with skin so soft and had her put her hair up and just hang out with it on her hair for a few hours that it worked like a charm to kill the lice and their eggs! AMAZING stuff! No more lice!

Now that everyone has the heebie jeebies from my lice story...well, you can thank me later!

We lost a few of our baby White Giants possibly to the heat over the last couple of days the others seem to be doing alright.

Here some GOOD NEWS

.. Jason starts leave Monday
yippiechickie.gif
We will be tackling our roof next week

One of my brothers will be here visiting for about 5 days and helping us on the roof(nice having a contractor in the family).... Jason and I purchased a beautiful picnic table from a older couple a few days ago for $75 its Huge... Our french door for the keeping room came in on wednesday so getting that room done is coming along very nicely..

Big momma turkey is a very very good momma, one of her babies has a gimpy leg and she is very good about sticking near by and waiting on him when they all go about the yard.

Our girls are up to laying 5 eggs a day now (still low compared to how many girls we have but it beats having none at all)

Now onto inquiring news:

AL: Hope all is well with your family cant imagine not knowing whats happening and having the feeling of no control over the matter, praying for the best possible outcome for your DD

Peaches: Yo How is that Wii treating you.. ha ha
