2 of them were see thru... One had seepage this morning... So I am sure it is bad... But we still have I know 6 eggs that are still okay... I think.

Well today has started off just great. I slept in, which was nice, but that left Lauren getting her own cereal this morning. I got woke up to the sound of Lauren crying because she spilled the milk. I don't see why she didn't just wake me up like every other day this week. I step outside to do chores and for some reason the chickens have switched pens. When locking the birds up last night, Andrew didn't tie the net over the juvenile pen back down. A lot of the babies were in the pen with the big birds and several of the big birds were in the babies pen. I got all the babies back in their pen, but can't seem to manage to catch the older pullets. They managed to rip the net right down the middle of the pen. One of the dogs decided to get off her chain and run around the yard. I liked to never get her caught. Her owner is supposed to come get her today. If not, it will be leaving my yard this weekend. We were supposed to keep it for a couple of days while they moved. They were supposed to get it after the weekend. It has been here TWO months. I hate this dog and do not want it.

Had to leave mid-post and meet the propane guys at the other house. Now I'm really frustrated. The plumbers used the wrong fitting on the propane lines and they have to come back out and replace them. They can't be here until sometime Monday. So much for moving this weekend.

And to put this whole rant into perspective . . . today is my birthday. Happy birthday to me.

Okay rant is over. We now return you to your regularly scheduled chicken programming.

On a good note . . . I finally found my missing wedding ring last night. I have been just wearing the engagement ring because the set is too wide for my fingers. I need the wedding band for work because the stone on the other ring tears my gloves. I can finally wear a ring again.

Shavon I am sorry to hear about all the trouble you have had this morning.

It is wonderful that you found your wedding ring. Did your man ever let you live it down, I know mine would not.

Barnswallow I feel your pain about the ac, I worked on the air conditioner this morning (hope I fixed it if not then I am going to have to think about getting a new unit

. Fortunetly it is not that hot here right now. It is 85 in the house but I can handle that. The fans help but the thought of having to buy a new compresser or unit really

me up. It seems if it is not one thing it is another.

Well been semi productive today. Like I said worked on the ac this morning, got the livingroom cleaned, Wiped down the stove and cabinets

(Uli is bad about not cleaning up spills), I need to go clean the bedroom. I still have not packed my winter clothes away so my armoir is a mess. The bedroom is hot right now so I am going to wait til later when I turn the ac back on.

Hope everyone is being careful of the heat. It sure is hot out there even in the shade. My birds are running all over the place so they seem to be a bit more acclamated to the heat. Wish I was because I have a ton of work to get done outside and it is just too hot to do anything.

Uli will be home soon so I am going to work on the bedroom. yeah.....

Rebecca, HE put the ring up because I was only wearing the one. HE forgot where he put it, so HE couldn't complain about me not being able to find it. However, I had the right to complain about my ring missing and he never lived it down.

Shavon you should know that I have two baby chicks that share a birthday with you.

Went out to the coop this evening and found two baby chicks.

One was running around on the coop floor which means she jumped out of the nesting box. I believe the one I found on the floor is a Favorelle X and the other ???. It is black with feathered feet but that does not mean squat in my coop.
I did bring them in and put them in a brooder. Going to put an older chick in with them to show them the ropes. I found if you use an older cochin or favorelle chick as a babysitter the chicks all do better. The older chick does not seem to appreciate the duty they are serving but they get used to it.

Well I is starting to get cloudy out there and cooling down some which is really good. Tomorrow I need to sweep the coop out and replace the nesting box litter. I do not know what those chickens are free ranging on but their poop really stinks.

Well worse then it normally stinks.

I thought the favorelle rooster I got from Peaches had gotten eaten have not seen him for a few days then low and behold I look out and he is strutin around the front yard by the well house. Crazy dang bird. He is really docile and some of the other roosters pick on him so he does not hang with the main part of the flock. His name is Captain Jack continuing with the pirate theme for my favorelles. I have a bunch who still need names but I am going to wait til they are a bit older and I know for sure the sexes. Found a list on the internet of famous pirates so that is where I get my names.

Better go love up on the baby chicks. There is just something about hatching your own chicks that is really exciting. Unfortantely due to the nature of my flock I will not be able to keep any chicks I hatch so if someone would like to make an offer on one or both of the chicks that would be great. I want them to go to homes where they will not be food. Oh and I am pretty sure the favorelle X is a pullet.
