Good morning everyone! Just wanted to send up a howdy to TJsNana and CityClucks, aint seen nor heard from yall in a while. Micheal, I got Dom eggs in two nest, waitin for them to start settin( Ihope Ihope I hope!!!) Anyways, I am here in and out, dont always post, Nice to see you Shavon!!! Well I gotta go to work, Off tomarrow, My lovely wife's birthday is today but she is working today and off tomarrow so I took a day off to hang out with her, My take her to lunch or something tomarrow..... looks like we may have lost our broody guinea

usually she would come in for treats in the afternoon, haven't seen her in a couple days.... how hard is it to introduce new guineas to an established group?

Glad you got your other boys enrolled locally - I couldn't begin to imagine driving to Anadarko twice a day for you, not to mention how difficult that would be for attending school functions. Sounds like you are getting a routine.

The question is (from one mom to another) did YOU cry when you dropped him off at school for the first time? I know that I did.

He didnt have to start this year, but he wanted to and was needing that kid interaction, so instead of day care, why not prep him for next year when he has to go.
No I did't cry... I held it all in... He done great... He wanted to go but he thought mommy was going to stay too... but he never shed a tear. When I went to pick him up, he was eating lunch.
He was such a big boy. He was still excited last night when we went to bed. Telling me everything that he done and how some boy name Sam got into trouble. lol...

Naturally, I did all the feeding and watering of the birds and rabbits that are under shelter last night, so that only those that are not under a roof need to be fed and watered this morning. If this hard rain doesn't change to a more gentle rain in the next 30 minutes, guess I will be putting on rain gear so I can feed without getting too soaked. But I am NOT complaining ~ glorious, glorious rain !

Robin, maybe the eggs beneath the broody guinea have started hatching. If that is the case, she may not leave her nest at all for a day or two while they hatch. As for introducing new guineas to an established group - it depends on the size of the groups. If it is one guinea being added, I would cage her within sight of the other guineas for a week or so, and they can get curious and introduce themselves before the new guinea is allowed to come out and play. If it is three or more guineas being introduced to the old group, you can probably let them out and the three will run together for a few weeks and may or may not form a group with the others. Age is important, since you need to keep older guineas confined for about 6 weeks or they may not decide to call your place their permanent home. Guineas have a tendency to roam and if any neighbors have guineas, yours might decide to join the neighbor's flock if they are not firmly established at your place.

Peaches, So glad that Montana had a great day. I remember when I would drop Adam off at day care and he would cry - so I would feel lousy half the day - then when I went to pick him up he was having such a good time playing, he wanted me to wait and let him play for awhile longer.

My "little guy" is starting his 4th year of college this year and I still recall the mixed emotions I had on the first day of day care, the first day of kindergarten, and the first day of junior high. Take lots of pictures. They will warm your heart later on.

And at the BYC Online Enablers course it's obvious that if one dosen't learn "How To Tips" every day it would be cause you weren't paying attention LOL Jiena said that she liked some of the birds at Blanchard it was just the heat that was too much for her so with cooler weather coming I see more poultry auctions in her future

. I understand it's supposed to be much cooler today, sure wish I could have played hookey and enjoyed the day at home working in the yard, Hope everyone is having a great day and gets some much needed rain, time for coffee....

Good morning, everyOkie! So glad to hear that Stimpy is doing so much better - will continue praying that he gets healthy enough to go home soon. Cloudy here, and the wind is kicking up a bit, but as of right now, no rain yet. Betsy - are you getting any yet?

We've been having a gentle rain for about an hour now.

Been visiting in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area the last 4 days. Surprised at how light traffic on here was. Didn't take too long to read up.

Vashi and I stayed with eldest brother and sister-in-law, and were joined by brothers from Louisiana, Florida and China. Only one missing was the artist brother from Colorado. We're very fortunate to be aged 59 to 75 and all in quite reasonably good health. Had a very nice visit, but we are both very, very tired.

Daughter and son-in-law cared for the poultry while we were gone. They've done it for years, but he managed to let all the guineas and the four young silver duckwing OEGBs escape the first or second day. We always keep them all in to make it easier for them. They worried about it a a lot, but I told them to just do the best they could and not worry about it. All were back in their pens within half an hour after we got home. The only realy problem was that a 4 foot black snake got in the upper pen of young half lavender showgirls I'd JUST put out in the new big pen a couple of days earlier. It ate one of the two best, but thankfully only one. It'll never eat another. I hadn't finished putting the stucco reinforcement along the lower part of the pen. Of course it won't completely keep them out, but it is a deterrent. The upper pen itself is of 1/2" hardware cloth, but I didn't make secure enough openings, so it was able to force itself in. The stucco reinforcement will go on tommorrow!

Glad to hear more good news about Stimpy! Hope everyone else is faring well.

I think I must be crazy but I have decided to add another breed to my managerie, I plan to get 3-4 doz White Cornish Bantams hatching eggs from winning show lines, these are such great looking birds I can't pass it up. The Standard Whites I hatched this past spring are doing well although I only got 4 I think that's great considering the trouble I have had with my Hulk roosters fertility issues, the AIing I did a few times may have helped some. Some of the experimental meat bird crossings I did also seem to be shaping up, so the saga continues.
