Home from school after Open House. Is it only Tuesday?

Chicken Coddler's Confession: I love to garden, (esp. flowers) but my chickens seem to love my favorite zinnias. I gladly cut them up to watch the chicks chase the petals as they fall to the ground. I have tried all kinds of treats but the zinnias and plain ole grass are the biggest hits. My chickens are not spoiled pets, not any more spoiled than our dog, who I made a winter coat for since we couldn't find any in the stores that matched his fur. (The saddest part is that he is part Huskey!)

glad to hear he is doing ok, quite a personality that guy has! Captain and barny decided to test each other through the fence, i thought i had it set up so they couldn't do any damage, well, they scratched each other up on their combs-so they each came inside for inspections- barny is a teddy bear, big as all get out! captain got put in the sink so i could rinse him down... neither had serous damage- just looked bad- captain is clueless as to how big barny is...

so tomorow is payday so i need to get some better fencing - tonite the banties are on the porch in a hutch that is supposed to be predator proof... made for outside rabbits, i enclosed it in hardware cloth just to be sure..

Dave says they should be fine, betcha i'll be getting up periodically to check on them- left the porch light on, should that be a deterent?

Matt : Ok it's official You must hand over your Man card at once, pink ribbons in the feathers of silkies in the living room is grounds for permanant expulsion in the Man club.

Robin, maybe the eggs beneath the broody guinea have started hatching. If that is the case, she may not leave her nest at all for a day or two while they hatch.

well, i am almost sure i saw her with the other two today, they would rotate, so one of the males would be with the nest while she had some time off, so this morning i think it was her- we have 2 pairs, and what they had been doing is she would come in and the three would be gone, i assume watching the eggs, so today it was 3 but no single one at any time- course we had a distracting day, a small garden snake kept them all on edge so they would circle around and follow him- i went to see it (i'm not afraid of snakes) and then the goose and ducks came over to tell me all about it with poser getting close enough to consider nipping it

I'll bet you could feed it chickens.

Bantams to start with.

(Surely they're good for something.)

I have heard that chickens really aren't that healthy for snakes. Apparently there isn't much nutritional value in them. I don't know for certain, but I'm not sure I wanna feed my babies to the snake.
