Monty, are any of those pullets naked necks? I'm in need of a couple. One of mine had it out with a game hen and lost, so now I need to replace her with two.

Did I get my chicken math correct? Oh yeah, any color but black please. I have enough black turkens.

I think your math is fine but unfortunatly I don't have any extra pullets or hens. The pullets I hatched this year will be part of my breeding flock next year.
If I get any extras (always looking) I will let you know.

Well poo... okay

Well I made it back from Weatherford. I was quite surprised at my shopping trip. I went to get some groceries. I filled about half my trunk and spent less than $100. I was proud of myself. I even got the good stuff. I bought a lot of fresh produce. I then went to the pet store and picked up 3 full sized mice. It was the first time I have tried the adults with my baby. I am also proud to say that he had no problem eating one. He was stalking them in the cage before I could get them in their home, so I figured he must be hungry. As soon as I dropped one in, he attacked and didn't let up until it was all over. He has officially graduated to real food. No more of the baby stuff. He was wiping out 2 babies every 3-4 days. I am also surprised that out of the three mice I purchased, one was a female. It is rare to get a female feeder mouse around here. I have decided that I am going to keep the female and remaining male and start raising my own babies. Well at least I'm gonna try, which is what the little boy was doing when I got them home. That means I am going to need another cage with accessories for the feeders. When I bought my boy, at the beginning of July, he was barely a foot long, now he is a little over two foot and growing like crazy. We have seen his first shed and dealt with the issues that ensued from that. To this day, he still has not tried or even hinted at biting any of us. The kids are still amazed by him. Andrew is warming up to him and I think he actually likes to interact with him. Now my biggest dilemma is where to put the big snake cage. He is quickly outgrowing his 10 gallon aquarium. I have 3 six-foot snake cages, but I don't really have a place to put them in the house for now. The only place big enough for it would be on top of my entertainment center and Andrew has already vetoed that idea. Not for lack of trying on my part though. At least then I would have something on that wall to watch. I suppose I should stop rambling and get to work. I have to rearrange the pantry. I bought too many groceries and they won't fit on the shelves unless I do some much needed organizing. Besides there are only a couple of people who want to hear about a pet snake.

In my auction list I have:
Idabel, OK Auction
Monthly sale at 6:00 pm
For Poultry and other animals

But I just heard from a BYC member who said they live close to there and haven't heard of the sale, at least not recently.

Got a little bit of rain here this morning, just enough to get everyone's food wet.

Ended up with two late hatchers last night, so I am up to 51 quail chicks that will be outgrowing my indoor brooders before I know it. My next project is to finish converting the former guinea/chicken coop into an exclusive quail resort. Grayson and I seem to have caught some kind of bug that gave him a fever and made me sleep all day yesterday. After a trip to the store for tylenol and ice cream, we seem to be on the mend but I don't have the energy for anything other than the usual chores.

What kind of snake is it? I have had and kept snakes most of my life it's been something I've studied since I first got the intrest when I was like 9 years old, The only reason I don't have any now is cause my wife don't like the idea of having snakes in the house but I have so many cases for keeping and displaying reptiles it just seems a shame to not have something in a couple of them LOL I'm thinking that I may start off with something simple a few Anoles or Geckos maybe move up to a Nile Monitor or Tegu then try easing into a Red Tail Boa small one of course LOL I don't know if you have thought about it or how much you pay for mice but I learned a long time ago that when I have snakes to make friends with at least one person who raises rabbits, pinkies and a very young rabbits are a lot cheaper than mice or rats and just as much to eat not to mention if you haven't condidioned your snake to eat prekilled food they are much less apt to harm your snake.

I have a ball python. He has only had live food and I don't leave the mice in with him for more than 5 minutes. He usually strikes fairly quickly if he is hungry. I have always liked snakes, my husband pretty much hates them. We agreed on a baby ball because they are so gentle. He actually bought it for me for my birthday and surprised me. We usually pay $2.50 per adult mouse. I may have to figure something else out when he starts eating larger prey, but for now I'm okay with that price. The only problem I have is that I have to drive 30 miles to get them and then 30 miles home. The pet store is in Weatherford, but so is the closest Tractor Supply.

I usually just make a day of it. I'll visit TSC, the Super Wal-Mart, and then The Aquarium.

Grace, A guy sent me a pm last spring and wanted me to post the info about the Idabel auction. I did so but I never heard from him again nor did I ever see him post to our thread.
You can remove it if you want.

Ok you had me worried for a sec, all the coddling talk had me thinking the worst like snuggling and saying sweet girly things and playing hugy pie kissy poo while she sit's in your lap on your recliner indoors. Don't ever scare me like that again Brother LOL, I have chickens that have names also, they are Rooster, Hen, Pullet and chick.

I am not sure when I will be hatching again maybe in another month or so even though that is a little early, I wanted these eggs so I will brave the unchartered waters of housing winter chicks. I have plenty of building materials I can use, ( left over from all the jobs this summer ) so I may do another condo expansion, I have some new idea's for housing these bantam's in a more controled situation where I can watch devlopment and reassign easier.
