Peaches - Hope you feel better soon. Being sick is awful. I'd rather go to the dentist.
I got home from work after dark yesterday and left in the dark this morning, so I haven't seen the new concrete slabs the crew poured Thursday morning. I'll be able to get home before dark today, so I'll take some pictures.
I need to drag a box blade around to make sure I've got adequate drainage, but beyond that I think the biggest part of the barn renovation is done! Metal roofing to cover the slabs will be ordered this weekend.
The metal watering nipples arrived via UPS. They look simple enough for a chicken to operate. Now I need to find the right sized round drill bit so that I can put some holes in 5 gallon buckets and lengths of PVC pipe to make the waterers for inside the new/old chicken barn. The watering nipples are threaded on one end, so I should be able to screw them into the holes I'm cutting in the watering arms (PVC pipes).
We had lots of rain last night. One of the outdoor pens has a tarp roof, and it filled with water forming a tiny lake. I used a shovel handle to push up on the lake from underneath, and the chickens crowded around my ankles as all four sides of the pen became the underside of a waterfall. It was pretty neat, and surprisingly, nobody got wet!
