Are there any auctions next weekend? Andrew finally has a weekend off and has agreed to take me to one. It would also give me the chance to deliver some spoken for birds and sell the rest.
Greetings, All. Jack came over today and brought me a little clear container with one live cricket in it. He was sweet to bother to catch it and bring it over for the chickens. One of the little RIRs came over to me and I dropped it out for her. She looked down at it and the next instant it was gone. She snatched it up so fast I didn't see her head move - I knew she had it when she turned around and ran to show off to the other girls.
Below is a photo of a few of the eggs I've gotten so far today. On the left is a egg from the cuckoo Marans I got from Poco Pollo at POOPS - her eggs are still a little small. In the middle is a RIR egg, and on the right is a Super Jumbo from one of the EEs. She doesn't usually lay an egg this large, and I haven't gotten a double-yolker from the flock in quite a while.
Jack and I had planned to go to the dive-in movie this weekend - we try to get there at least once during the summer. But I'm very sad to report that Tulsa's famous drive-in theater - the Admiral Twin - burned down today.

Actually, it is very difficult to find non-medicated chick starter - so you may want to call Atwoods first to see if they have it. I am feeding game bird starter to the ducklings, because I couldn't find non-medicated chick starter in any of the 3 feed stores where I get feed.

Cement and Newcastle are the 1st Saturday of each month.
Blanchard is the second and fourth Saturday of each month.
Fletcher is the 3rd and 5th Saturday of each month.
Every Saturday morning they have the Guy Rose Auction just outside of Perkins.
Those are just the weekend auctions that are West of I35 (although Perkins is actually a little East of I35, toward Stillwater.) I am not familiar with auctions North of Tulsa or East of I35, but here is the link to the Oklahoma auction thread https://www.backyardchickens.com/forum/viewtopic.php?id=363390

Beautiful eggs. If you decide to do that again, would you include a quarter or a ruler in the picture so I will have a better perspective of the relative sizes? It seems that all my hens are laying eggs that are smaller than they have laid in the past, and I am wondering if it is the heat we have been having. Most of my hens are 2 years old and I thought they would start laying larger but perhaps less frequent eggs as they aged.
Sorry that your drive-in theater burned. I think OKC still has one that is operational - on South Western. Even small towns don't seem to have them any more.

Mount them directly in the bottom of the bucket and make a stand to hold the bucket instead of hanging by the handle. I bet some of the plant stands would work very well.
