Maribeth, you are probably the world's best poultlry enabler ... always trying to help a fellow poultry addict aquire more birds, and especially more than we all need
Thanks for helping us downsize on our hatching eggs and Narragansett turkeys
I
hope all those eggs hatch and you are blessed with billions of baby chickies
I unfortunately have come to the realization that I have hoarded way to many birds and MUST cut back, at least for a little while.
In 2 weeks I'll be working a new job (promotion) where Gerald & I will barely see each other ... I'll work days & Gerald still works 2nd shift.
Making sure all our critters are fed & watered daily may be rough ... well, the rough part is learning how to get up early in the morning, fight rush hour traffic & be at work before 6:30 am. Oh, but I won't have to work weekends or any overtime anymore!
I suspect that this will be one of the best hatch rates ever, since it will be more inconvenient to brood an abundance of chicks at this time of year.
Delighted that I could help you downsize your Narragansett turkey hens. This will hopefully give me 5 laying hens this Spring so that I can begin raising poults early. The poults I purchased at auctions in July will not be large enough for Thankgsiving this year. Maybe for Christmas, I will be able to get the extra Toms processed and into someone's freezer. D.A.R.P. told me they anticipate being certified and fully staffed to process ducks and turkeys by the first of December.
Are you going to change your Gold Feather Membership title to "Seriously Downsizing (Maybe)" or "Seriously Downsizing (Soon)" ??????
Just for the record, I candled all the eggs from the Newcastle auction and pulled out about 2 dozen guinea eggs that were not developing (maybe that is why they had an "x" in pencil on the side?" so was able to get all the eggs from Blanchard into the Sportsman and the already going Hovabator. My incubators are officially "full" this week.
