YES! Oh Buckguy, I hope you can be there at Harrah! I'll bring a cage for the Jersey hen!

Antheat, I hope you find out more about those "marans" chicks. I looked at your "what am I" thread & left a message on it They may very well be pure marans ... I just don't know what color they'd be classified. It's possible they are marans that were not bred for a certain color, only bred for dark eggs. and can be a mix of color combinations. Even still, some breeders might not realize the color of bird they have could produce offspring of another color because of the bird's previous ancestory.

Sorry for all the short messages these days everyone. We don't have internet at our new home yet, so I have to sit in the McDonald's parking lot with my laptop.

Hi Everyone!
It was so nice to meet you Carla and your husband and Buckguy. We got safely home and the chicks are tucked in. Thank you for everything! I'll let you know how the hatching goes. The chicks look great!

Allison...
Would love to be able to help, but I bought mine at Cement auction and there is no name on it and this is my first hatch. But there are lots of people in our Okie group that can give you all kinds of good advice.

Carla...
Thank you so much for our new babies. It was good to see you again, tell Gerald we missed him but maybe next week we will make it to Harrah. The babies are all settled in and I am going to bed, before I fall down. These meds are kicking my hiney.

Monty...Glad you are feeling better. Sorry I missed you at Harrah. Maybe next week.

Night all!

Buckguy20, this time the taglines under our names are hear to stay; there are only about 5 different ones, though. The name you get depends on how many posts you have.

Cammie - Hummmm, sitting in McDonald's parking lot talking to people online about Chickens.... that's gotta be a first!

Hey, at least I'm not craving Chicken McNuggets...

Wonder what my tagline will say after I sell out ? *ha*

I may be going to the Harrah auction next week to sell whats left. I think all the birds are spoken for except for my Barred, Polish, and Crevecour roo. *sigh* This is so hard. I'm selling my chickens on my birthday...

Cammie, I am just letting you know that they changed the Harrah auction to every other week, so there won't be one next week. I am sorry. I will talk more about tonight's auction later. Carla and Critter both made quite a haul. I know Carla must be thrilled. I just sold hens and did OK but they didn't bring what hens brought the last time I went.

Wow, what a busy day ... got to go to a neighborhood garage sale all morning until almost noon, then met Kaacres for some chicks, then fed & watered all the flock and then went to the Harrah auction, took some eggs & chicks to SerentityChrisite ... enjoyed meeting you and your daughter, & sold chicks & eggs! Oh yes, I made quite a heavy haul ... bought the GQF cabinet cabinet incubator, several cages, some eggs ... some excellent eggs from Critter, bought some building tie-downs ... to anchor down the little chicken sheds I have .. and forgot to bring home a metal gas can we bought! Gosh, I can't believe we forgot something. Speaking of forgetting ... I forgot we had a Jersey hen from Buckguy, until Gerald reminded me! She's happily cackling away in the chick shed tonight. Tomorrow we'll move her to the Jersey pen (in a separate cage until she's properly acclimated). What a busy day ... and we just moved 39 chicks out of the incubator today & put them in the brooder and have some more still hatching! WOW, I'm exhausted!

Another thing about the Harrah auction. We were a little disappointed this time. Several times we bid on something and the auctioneer sold to someone else ... even though the spotter told them they had us in ??? Also, someone we know thought he sold a bird for more money ... and we thought so too ... only to find out the paperwork showed considerably less. Also, a rabbit was stolen during the auction, and a seller that had Welsummers eggs was very upset to find that the tag identifying his eggs was removed and the eggs were sold as barnyard mix, for a dollar something. He was very upset!

Oh and as Buckguy mentioned ... the Harrah auction is now going to be every other Saturday, so no auction next Saturday night. That's OK with me ... I want to go all the way to Monroe to their auction next Friday night!

Carla,
It was kinda weird and wild at Harrah, huh? I am glad you made it home ok. My you did have a busy day.
I thoght I was gonna get to sell tickets to the fight over the Welsummer eggs. I guess they worked it out without bloodshed.
I had an email from a lady that was there tonight and she had some complaints as well. I am going to compile a list and go talk to the auction owner. I don't want to lose the auction but I know people are getting tired of what is going on.
I am going to bed now.
Monty
