chickensandmore, get a parakeet! I got my first one when I was 9, and he went with me all the way to my freshman year of college. One of the best pets I've ever had.

it was either i buy them, or they were going to be turned loose to fend for themselves.

parakeets arent the best at fending for themselves.

someone should post a pic of a peacock pheasant, those will realy mess with your head!

doubleo, a splash would be perfect for you, you don't have to pick blue or white!

I find the blue very pretty; dirt and muck shows up alot more on the whites.

Carla has some, I had one from her. All of her birds are great!

Yep, we have silkies and some beautiful blue splash one's I've been admiring & will probably have to keep a few for myself. Unfortunately, none of my breeders are for sale, but I have some young pullets I might possibly be convinced to sell.

Al is looking for a silkie hen too, so if I do sell any ... he's first on my list. My pullets should start laying in a few months though. Silkies really are nice to have around, unless you want them laying eggs regularly because they really will go broody. You can definitely count on that!

Dutchchic, ooh do you have pictures!? With spring coming in just a few months, I'm getting the incubating itch.

I haven't sprung the idea on my hubby yet, though. A small repair in the bathroom has turned into having to gut almost the entire thing...

I would have to take some, but I can tell you they are very pretty. Lots of color in the 2 pairs I won off of Eggbid last fall. I have 4 little chicks I hatched from eggs I got from someone else here on BYC, too. They are very sweet, easy going birds. Mine are A/B, so they are very small.
