I set up my rabbit hutch in the chicken coop this evening and hung a heat lamp in it and moved the chicks out there...I hope they will be ok. They'll have more room out there than in a rubbermaid tub and they are about 2-3 weeks old now. The coop itself has a red heat lamp hanging in it and I have a lamp in the hutch itself too with pine shavings.

Watching the OU girls basketball play....well, hubby is since I can't stand basketball...

There is a site I found last year that has most cities laws listed, you just have to search through it for the livestock/pets section. I'll see if I can find it again.

That would be great, thank you....

But is it a good Idea to also get silkies with eggs? or should i stick with getting chicks?
What i mean is, My mom thinks it will be a good Idea to order hatching eggs instead of day old chicks, I want to stick with the day-olds because they'll be vaccinated, but my mom wants hatching eggs because she thinks that if we get silkies that they'll take care of chicks that they hatch themselves. So my question is, does it matter?
Newbie questions are awesome...

Anyways I won the bid on som White Leghorn eggs on Crazy 24 auction and have some Game eggs coming in the mail, I have been getting about two dozen eggs a week to hatch from my assortment of pairs and trios of different breeds, so I imagine I can keep it going!!!

Stray - although silkies are known for going broodie there is no way of knowing when it will happen. Only get eggs if you have an incubator. Stick with chicks but you don't need to vaccinate for a small flock...they have chick starter with some meds in it...not major anitbiotics just stuff to prevent cocci...you ca use unmedicated you just need to be a little more sanitary. In my opinion, it would be best to get the chicks...or you could always go to an auction and get some adults...better yet...

GO TO POOPS!!

I agree! It is worse for your ego to get beat by a guy in a dress! Although, I have seen a couple that I am fairly sure could whip me.

Teach,

In Oklahoma, it's called a log. At the Scottish games, it's called a "caber".

Teach Can you do the one about the parable of the spider. You know its the one about the big hairy mother spider that has about a thousand babies riding on her back and then something scares her and all the babies scatter and run to hide.

Hey there fellow Okies.. I have been lurking a while since my first post. POOPS sounds like fun. I may try to talk my wife into going. If I decide to do that I will let you know.

I am planning on attending the Chupps auction in Inola this coming Saturday. Any other BYC'ers going to be there?

Have any of you seen any info on this HR 875 ?

Kinda scares me... I wounder what that will do to folk's like us? People that sell a few eggs and birds, not to mention any produce you sell out of your garden. It is hard enough to deal with the state, now we are going to have federal food police?

Here is just one of the definitions I saw that made me wounder who are they targeting. I just think the law looks very broad. Looks like they can put a stop to a lot of what we do if they want to. I am not saying that is what they will do but it just looks like they can.

SEC. 3. DEFINITIONS.

In this Act:

(14) FOOD PRODUCTION FACILITY- The term ‘food production facility’ means any farm, ranch, orchard, vineyard, aquaculture facility, or confined animal-feeding operation.

No I haven't seen any black helicopters over my place spying on me.
