He looks like a brown water snake

Thanks for the snake ID, with all this rain he is probably gonna be really confused next week when it dries out-we have a pond, really full now, and a creek that runs when it rains- we will be putting hardwire cloth sunk in cement- that should deter him, right??

Make sure the cloth is high enough, rule of thumb is a snake can stand up 1/2 the length of his body, example if a snake is 4' long he can reach up and sneak into a spot 2' up.

My drug of choice is LS-50. It is powerful and will usually knock illness right out of a bird. For a chick I would use 4 grams per gallon of water that I measure out on a digital postal scale. If you can't find the LS-50 you should be able to get either Terramycin or the Aureomycin at your local feed store or Tractor Suppply or Atwoods.

Byrdluv, this has your name all over it. And its right there in Muskogee

Howdy SC, Glad you checked in. Looks like a good week for baseball.
i saw them going at it when I passed some ball fields in Midwest City. Isn't hard to run wearing swim fins?

Out of the 3 1/2 dozen eggs in the hatcher, I'd say there's at least 6 different breeds. Well, what are the odds that 3 out of the 4 that are already hatched are from by B/B/S Ameraucanas

That must just be an energetic breed

Hey Okies... just posted this in emergencies...
Help!

I have a couple hens that are vomiting a clear, mucous-like material. We have had rain for awhile now, and I was worrying about bacteria. They are about 1 1/2 years old. Poop looks normal. Other than the rain, no changes... they are on Purina Layena and scratch. One hen is really lethargic and not moving.... the other is unaffected. It was really hot here yesterday and they were downing the water, so I attributed it to that....The weather here has been really screwy, 90 one day 60 the next with thunderstorms off and on. They have been free ranging in the wheatfield behind my house off and on. Her crop seems ok.....any ideas...I also have ACV in the water

The acidity in the ACV should ward off things like sour crop.

Is their breathing ok? No rattles or wheezing? does she seem off balance or is it just that she is laying about?

If you can check her over very good too. especially the keel bone that runs down the front. There should be a lot of flesh on either side.

Chickens are very good at hiding illness as to them it is a sign of weakness to show being ill.
