Les,
As long as you have your doctor's cap on I have a question.

Today I found a three week old chick which had its head stuck under its belly and back between its legs. When it moved it staggered backwards. It didn't fall. I tried to straighten its neck out and I let it drink with me holding its head but whenever I let go its head would go right back between its legs. It was like this all day so just before dark I went ahead and put it out of its misery. There are about 25 in that brooder and he was the only one affected.
I had never seen anythng like it.

Sounds like limberneck which can either be caused by Botulism or a vit. defeciency. If it is a defeciency it can either be caused by the chick getting pushed away from the feed or what is known as malabsorbtion disorder. Next time try some Enfamil baby vits. and get the one without the added iron. One drop twice a day will work wonders on weak chicks.

That is so neat to see! so is it a she? looks like both are pleased to have each other!

She has named the chick Dakota....since we aren't sure what it is...

This bird sits on her shoulder and nibbles on Gabi's ear and picks at her shirt. It loves to be held and carried around.

I was able to find bird vit. at walmart that were much cheaper than baby vit. I wasn't treating the same thing, just thought I would throw that out there. Would the baby vit be stronger & work faster??

The bird vit. may work better then the baby ones but I have never used them . If it isn't a flea collor or chew toy our walmart doesn't handle it.

One thing I do get while at Petsmart is the Kaytee hand feeding formula for birds, it will also perk up weak chicks.

Les, Thanks. The chick was a good sized strong looking chick. It just couldn't keep its neck straight.. It was almost like his head was being pulled under. it wasn't just hanging down.
Wierd stuff.
Next time I 'll try the vitamins.

That is good to know. I will keep that in mind. I had some chicks that were doing great, one day went out to feed and two were having leg trouble, I knew they couldn't of gotten injured so I did a serch and found the vit. post. One was better with in 24 hours the other was 72 hours....I thought I might loose it but they are both doing great now.

Thanks for the great information!

Off to bed, night everyone.

It goes beep beep beep alot, not running right???? you sound like my DW at the service dept at the dealership making funny noises while the service advisor has a funny look on his face LOL.

OK so down to business, when does it beep??, what cycle is it in??, is it an electric or gas???. do the close dry??. lets not worry about voltage just yet, The dryer's are only lubricated once at the factory and no more is needed. how is it vented to the outside, is the filter screen clean, some of the newer dryer's have redundant safety systems that throw warnings, have you tried to reset the dryer's memory board??. is it over heating??. check these first buddrow before we go any further let's see if we can't pin it down.
