Well, that's all helpful to know. This year is our experimenting year, so I'm not ready to get the turkeys we want to raise full time. But Bourbon Red is definitely one of the breeds we are looking at. We want something that will breed and raise their own young, and I've read this breed is good for that.

But if we were ready, we would have definitely bought them, because I sensed that was a very good price, and would have been happy to go higher.

I'll check with you when we are ready to start our turkey project in earnest, to see if you have anything available.

I'm finding I'm enjoying the turkeys more than the meat chickens. They seem so relatively calm. I let them out of their tractor today, and they are in my back yard hanging out with my black lab, snacking along the bank of our pond, and just generally being happy birds. When I get ready to put them up for the night, they will follow me over to the tractor and will walk right in when I lift it for them.

At the Durant auction, the auctioneer will say "This pair of birds has got to bring at least $25 dollars. Who wants to start us off at $25." But that only works with the sellers who mark their cages/boxes. Sometimes, you will see a seller hanging around the auctioneer's stand, and if their eggs bring only a dollar a dozen, they will say "Unless someone will bid $2, I'm keeping them". Those were both just examples. And, yes, it can get pretty confusing

Rain, rain...........GO AWAY !!!!!!!!!! We had a good 'un about
1:30 this morning and have had two more rounds since sun-up !
Is a soupy mess out there.....again..........

Luvs - glad your little roo is better. That is a nice pair of birds.

OKCarla - question about airplanes....like if you wanna talk about
them on the weekend....LOL When we were coming through
MidWest City, there were several large planes came over, and
then, there was this long, wide winged, but kinda narrow
bodied, black or charcoal colored plane came in. I had never
seen anything like that. What was it ????? Didn't look like
it had windows down the sides, so we're thinking maybe a
freight plane for supplies or something. Was neat to see it.
TJ is an airplane/helicopter nut !

Have a good (dry) one !!!!!

where are you from and what kinds of birds do you raise?
The Prague exotic animal auction is next weekend, June 19 and 20. They would be the most likely auction to have something unique like a swinhoe pheasant.

Everyone,

When I get back from Falls Creek next week I am going to be looking for some either quail or their eggs or both. I bought some quail at Chupps and I love them. I want to increase because I only bought 10 and that's just a tease I've found out.

Also, I want some cochins. Not sure what to ask for but I saw some big balls of feathers cochins and I want to get some. I'm so new at this, but I think they were just standard size. IF someone can help me figure out what I looking for I would appreciate it.

I've had so much trouble with my chicks dying I think I'm swearing off hatching for awhile and going to concentrate on just buying already hatched.

Anyway help would be greatly appreciated.

Welcome back! Your quail eggs are here, your roos and blue barrels have been successfully delivered.

I sent you a pm. Thanks for handling all the transitional issues.
We have our "Falls Creek" service tonight at church. It could last any where from 20 minutes to two hours depending how much the kids want to talk.
We had a great camp, the best in the last three or four years. No big problems just a few injuries.
We had a great speaker and super services. Lots of decisions for Christ.
If I wasn't so tired, I'd go again real soon.
I'll call you later this evening.
A thankful, Buckguy.
