Well, that's all helpful to know. This year is our experimenting year, so I'm not ready to get the turkeys we want to raise full time. But Bourbon Red is definitely one of the breeds we are looking at. We want something that will breed and raise their own young, and I've read this breed is good for that.
But if we were ready, we would have definitely bought them, because I sensed that was a very good price, and would have been happy to go higher.
I'll check with you when we are ready to start our turkey project in earnest, to see if you have anything available.
I'm finding I'm enjoying the turkeys more than the meat chickens. They seem so relatively calm. I let them out of their tractor today, and they are in my back yard hanging out with my black lab, snacking along the bank of our pond, and just generally being happy birds. When I get ready to put them up for the night, they will follow me over to the tractor and will walk right in when I lift it for them.
