Oh, and I'm glad Gerald didn't bring a bunny home although I really like rabbits

We just don't have time for any more critters! Now you on the other hand, could use some MORE CHICKENS! I'll have to see what we can do to help you out

Carla or Cammie, when you are ready for some rabbits, whether pet or for meat, let me know. I can put you in the business!

Thank you Maribeth! I must seriously downsize on critters first though

Ronnie, Quenston,
The big catfish, we cut into steaks. For the most part they taste just like the smaller ones. Some are just tougher.
My grandfather was a big time catfish man. I can remember several he caught that weighed over 50 pounds and a few over 70.
When I was about 12, I "helped' him pull a 78 pound flathead into the boat that we caught on a trotline. That fish about sank the boat.
I haven't caught any near that big since he passed away several years ago.

Usually the roosters will develop what looks like a little dark marble-type comb just above their beak They also have more pointy feathers on the back of their head that stick up more & point backward. My guess is that both of the okrobin's silkies are boys ... but until they start crowing or laying eggs, I am not totally convinced.

Yes, we'll bring some silkies with us to the POOPS fest.

Robin, your 2 silkies are adorable. I love the video of the rooster crowing. He is definitely handsome and has great lungs!

Here it is 4:30 in the morning, I have to be up at 7:30, and what am I doing? Checking on the BYC of course!

Morning all,

If you have a a just a little time today could you please say a little prayer for my Mom as she Pass away last night, Mom was a very happy person and she would not want this to be sad.
She loved chickens and she loved to travel..she always looked at death as just another trip, but without pictures.. she always said it was the kind of trip that you have to see for yourself..
Pictures just wouldn't do it justice,

Thank You

Don

Oh ! Chickens and more so sorry about your mother. She must have been a great person ,she loved the two things I do most,Chickens and travel!
Buckguy20--I love that Eastern gate song. Its one of the good ole classics!

henny glad you got to have a good day with mom for a change. Those are the days you will want to remember. We took Mil; to church yesterday-Disaster!-she fell twice,no injurys and denys doing it already. Then she threw another fit about going home and was mad and ugly the rest of the day. Now when ever the wife is on the phone she starts screaming "I want to go home,I'm freezeing,I want to go home."She thinks its the other daughter and she will come and get her. BY the way The ce3iling fans are all off,the air is turned up as high as we can stand it and she still sits around with two or three sweaters on! She has always used this as a reason to leave when she was ready to leave.Oh well we're hanging in there. Wife is like you just feeling miserable and guilty all the time.

you know, when my mom got to that point, i had to realize this isn't the mom i remember, due to minstrokes, and treat her as i would a needy stranger- not sure if that helps- tell your wife not to feel guilty, but to just accept that how she is now

Chickens- so sorry, will light a candle for her - sounds like she had the right idea

Sorry for the loss of your Mom, Don. There is nothing like a mom.....no one can ever replace them... You will be in my prayers...

It sure seems like God is calling alot of folks home. Mike says the way things are going in the country and stuff, that maybe He is sparing them. I hope He doesn't forget about the rest of us.

Gonna get hot again... got everything as ready as it can be out there in the huts. Everything is clean...found a stinky dead mouse in the trap, and a secret egg nest. Glad I found THAT. They were 8 eggs laid as neat as you please in my tools....
