I am trying to imagine the source of enough marigold seed to put it into commercial feed. The thought of fields of marigolds boggles my mind (and would probably do serious injury to my allergies also)

They only good thing about it is now Don has to kill all of the 10 rooster running around. I disliked the little brats anyway. They always get me when my backs to them and I have shorts on. We know what to look for so if they and will just burn them. Don won't be to happy, he likes the roosters. He trying to figure out how to skin them. We doing five today the regular way. The other five we do tomorrow when they been off feed 24 hours. I burned four pairs of shoes today too. I am ordering toss away slip on boots today. I have to many chickens and turkeys to lose everything.

This one pen of turkeys is away from my chickens too. I separated things in case one group got sick and boy I am glad I did.

The Ag guy said Carla's turkeys sure looked good and healthy.

Don said God knew I was going to be very upset over losing my chocolates. That why God had Marybeth to tell me about Micheal's turkeys. We going to Tx next weekend and I want to see if we can meet him on our way back. They will have a NEW house in a area that never had chickens or turkeys on it for them. Thank God I hadn't put my new turkeys out there or my new chickens.

His guy going to be pretty upset with me because he getting a visit from the State to test his bird. I had to give them his address,phone number and all. And by the time the agent told me he had to have all that , I was so mad I didn't care if he so upset with me. Figured I shouldn't be the only one upset.

I think we'll be trying the Fletcher auction again. I don't know what they will have, but I'm curious. I shouldn't be spending any more money on birds for a while, anyway.

Carla, didn't Cement sell your vegies early in one of their earlier auctions? I seem to recall something like that. I wonder if the change is because of Fletcher starting up.

If you want them to eat the laying pellets you have to take everything else away from them. I was doing the same thing, feeding them everything and they wouldnt eat their layer. I am now giving them only layer in their feeders and in the evening I go out with a handful of scratch for each pen. I will be giving them 2 or 3 handfuls of scratch come winter. I have been doing this for 2 weeks and already have seen major improvement in their laying.

what if you dampen the layer pellets? my chickens will eat anything if its been dampened-

by the way, forgot who got the commission pet portrait, but wanted to touch base whether you have email the pictures? i haven't gotten anything yet

In the city they use the gas chamber from the city pound to kill the skunk, but peeps like us have to either suffocate, drown or shoot them--if you shoot the skunk be sure to break the spine behind the head--it will hopefully prevent it from spraying...but even after death, the skunk's muscles, etc will "relax" and the spray WILL ooze out...sorry if anyone is offended by the methods above, but really, there aren't many choices--other than opening the trap and releasing it of course...to return to your farmyard again!
