Them's some pretty birds! Tempted to abandon my new rule to have only Bourbon Reds on the place.

I can see this is going to be hard.

Actually, Cuban I think you may have been right.

On eggbid, there's some sweetgrass turkeys. The history in the ad says

"The Sweetgrass strain itself first appeared in 1996 in a flock of Heritage Bronze Turkeys in Big Timber, MT, at Sweetgrass Farms... Some tricolors also carry recessive red and narragansett genes, this type is better known as "Calico", which is a much lighter "more orange color" because of the presence of a combination of red with narragansett genes... These birds have a heavily marked royal palm pattern with chestnut red."

So it sounds like it's a line developed by Sweetgrass Farms involving the Heritage Bronze, Narragansett & Royal Palm breeds.

Now that's just mean, showing me a picture like that, with my defenses already down.

I don't know how to explain it well but on the door opening I cut the wire at the edge of the next bock leaving the long straight wire and folded it back. If this doens't make sense I will take a pic tonight so you can see.

That makes sense. I have done that when I was using wire with holes larger than 1x2 and it works well.

Hello fellow Okies, how's everybody? Over the weekend I got the 35-3 wk old meat birds outside in their new pen that I built (No coop or roost needed for these guys, just feed and water!), and combined the younger flock (60+) with the older flock (20+-). Only 2 bloody butts casualties after a couple of days now.

How are you Quenston? The last post I remember from SC after a fair/show/auction was a few days after POOPS and I don't remember when Queen Scoot posted last.

Hey guys. I am working on my new coop. I used alot of the design from a coop on the designs section of this site. I'm about 75% complete. I need to finish the front and the roof. What do you think so far.

Well I just got back from taking the kids to the doctor. They both have the flu. They got prescriptions for Tamiflu. Has anyone had this? My gosh that is some expensive meds. Luckily their insurance paid for it. It would have cost over $150 for both kids. I hope everyone is feeling alright, cause we are feeling like crap.

Those are some pretty turkeys. I need to find some turkey eggs and start hatching. My husband wants to raise some, but he wants to start from the beginning.

It's been a good day... even with the wind.

First thing this morning I let all the chickens out of the coop into the run. About 20 minutes later I hear my big NHR rooster just going crazy so I rush out the to run to see whats up just in time to see a hawk go flying off. My rooster had ran every other chicken back into the coop and was out in the run yellin at that 'ol hawk, tellin him to come on down and get some!! Good rooster, he got treats!!!

Next, the NPIP tester showed up right on time and I tested clean. My birds are NPIP certified!! YEAH!!!!!

And to top it all off, we got our first egg today. Yippee!!!!
