Lynne will be thinkin' and praying for you and Dakota. When I got dehydrated that's how it was with me. cramps that brought tears and no ability to retain fluids at all. It can really sneak up on you too.

I know that you ladies are just giving me a hard time about the NNs. I'm certain though that if you were to ever get one in your flock they would take over your life. When Teva first got hers from McMurray I was dead set against having those ugly things, then they grew up. They are friendly and just love to talk to you plus lay those big brown eggs. I have some here going on 10+ years old and still laying like troopers through the spring although they slack off through late summer and winter. As they age the tint on the egg has gotten whiter and my oldest now lays white eggs.

And did I mention they are disease resistant?

Hello everyone. I've been reading along and decided to post. I'm still alive. but I sure feel awful. Everyone in the house has an upper respiratory infection. It is affecting all of us differently though. Does anyone know what a frizzled Serama chick looks like? I think mine is one. Its feathers are starting to look a little frizzled. I just had to post the pic of pie to tease Al. Hope everyone has a good night.

Nope, it isn't pie Al!

smfamf, no more pictures like that!

Yes, I'm going to Fayetteville. I was just wondering if anyone was going past Choctaw, OK because I'm buying the Shamo Bantams from Buckguy. I thought if someone was coming past there that would be willing to pick them up I could save about 3 additional hours in a vehicle with two cranky girls after the show. If no one is coming thru there, no biggie cause I really want the Shamos but there's just so many times that you can say "hey look, it's a chicken" before the kiddos give you that look.

Sorry your family is still under the weather, Shavon - hope you all get well soon!

I am going to bed, and I hope to NOT dream about turkens! Although if you could develop a naked meat breed, you'd probably make a bundle!

Funny you should mention that. That is the reason they were devoloped but it just didn't catch on. 50% less feathering then other breeds and the skin is smoother once plucked then other birds. But from their ancestry as a game breed they are just a little slower to grow in most normal climates. Now you take a hot climate like Egypt or any place it gets really hot and they out perform all meat birds in both growth and feed conversion.

Due to their true dual purpose nature and their resistance to disease they are being used throughout South America as a sustainable income and food source for poor villages. There has probably been more research done on the NNs then any other breed of chicken. Now if you research them on the net be sure to put Naked Neck CHICKENS in the search or have your adult filter turned way up. If you just do a search for Naked Necks some of the things that come up will make your eyeballs pop out!!

Oh and Good Night every one!
