Hello all,
Its been a while since I last posted, so this might be a bit long. I have been working my rear end off and I feel like crap. I actually went back to bed after I got the kids on the bus this morning and slept until my husband called at 11:00. I don't officially start work at my new job until Friday. I've just been trying to get things ready before then.
Jordan had his first home game for basketball, so I got to see him play. He playes his little heart out and always gives his all. I, in no way promote violence in kids, but I couldn't help but laugh at him last night. One of the visiting team knocked one of our players down and kicked him in the head on purpose. Jordan takes it upon himself to return the favor and inform the other kid that "no one messes with his friends." Our school has a program called "Hot Shot." It is held during halftime and the Pre-K through 2nd grade kids get on the court and perform their "drills." Its kinda like a half-time show, but funny. Last night was Lauren's first time so it was fun. We didn't get home until 9:00 and we get to do it all over again on Thursday.
My birds are very mad at me right now. I decided to go ahead and worm them all. Since most of them free range all day long, I have to keep them locked in the coop. If they have worms, how long should it take to see signs after worming? I don't think they do, but I wanted to get it over with before the really cold weather sets in. They have never been wormed before. When I was doctoring for URI last week, I noticed a few of them are fairly thin and thought it would be best to get it done. Yeah, you should have seen me trying to give a shot to 42 birds by myself every morning. It was hysterical. In the evening I had help but mornings were all me.
Hey Roy, I have guineas pipping.
I have only lost one out of 16 chicks that hatched last week. I guess that is pretty good. I had to cull three because of visible intestines. Three more pipped and zipped but didn't pop out and that leaves five that didn't do anything. It was my worse hatch yet. Of course it is only my fourth chicken hatch, so I still have time to perfect it.
I need to sell my ferrets. I don't have time for them anymore. They are really sweet babies. I don't want to get rid of them, but they deserve better than being locked in a little cage all the time. One of them is now sick. He got a UTI somehow. I have to give him antibiotics twice a day. He didn't eat all weekend and I was so worried. I just knew he wouldn't make it long enough to go to the vet yesterday, but he did. I have caught him pigging out at the feed dish a couple of times since he has started his meds, so I know he is feeling better.
Henny, my grandpa worked for PSO for over 30 years. It is a great place to work. They have really good benefits and take care of their employees and family. Good luck to Mike. I hope he gets the job.
Well, I hope everyone is doing good and stays out of trouble. It seems people tend to get into trouble when its cold, because there is nothing to do. My hand is actually going to sleep typing this, so I guess it's time to shut up now.
