After I grow out the batch in the brooder right now, I'll have to make some choices on what to keep and what to sell off or give away. If I don't have enough layers after I make that decision, I'll have to buy some heritage RIR (the ones that are dark), or maybe Welsummers. So I do understand the need/want/desire for non-foo foo birds.

But my first love right now are the MFCs in my big coop outside... currently freezing their little fuzzy feet off. Well, hopefully not literally.

Hello all,

Its been a while since I last posted, so this might be a bit long. I have been working my rear end off and I feel like crap. I actually went back to bed after I got the kids on the bus this morning and slept until my husband called at 11:00. I don't officially start work at my new job until Friday. I've just been trying to get things ready before then.

Jordan had his first home game for basketball, so I got to see him play. He playes his little heart out and always gives his all. I, in no way promote violence in kids, but I couldn't help but laugh at him last night. One of the visiting team knocked one of our players down and kicked him in the head on purpose. Jordan takes it upon himself to return the favor and inform the other kid that "no one messes with his friends." Our school has a program called "Hot Shot." It is held during halftime and the Pre-K through 2nd grade kids get on the court and perform their "drills." Its kinda like a half-time show, but funny. Last night was Lauren's first time so it was fun. We didn't get home until 9:00 and we get to do it all over again on Thursday.

My birds are very mad at me right now. I decided to go ahead and worm them all. Since most of them free range all day long, I have to keep them locked in the coop. If they have worms, how long should it take to see signs after worming? I don't think they do, but I wanted to get it over with before the really cold weather sets in. They have never been wormed before. When I was doctoring for URI last week, I noticed a few of them are fairly thin and thought it would be best to get it done. Yeah, you should have seen me trying to give a shot to 42 birds by myself every morning. It was hysterical. In the evening I had help but mornings were all me.

Hey Roy, I have guineas pipping.

I have only lost one out of 16 chicks that hatched last week. I guess that is pretty good. I had to cull three because of visible intestines. Three more pipped and zipped but didn't pop out and that leaves five that didn't do anything. It was my worse hatch yet. Of course it is only my fourth chicken hatch, so I still have time to perfect it.

I need to sell my ferrets. I don't have time for them anymore. They are really sweet babies. I don't want to get rid of them, but they deserve better than being locked in a little cage all the time. One of them is now sick. He got a UTI somehow. I have to give him antibiotics twice a day. He didn't eat all weekend and I was so worried. I just knew he wouldn't make it long enough to go to the vet yesterday, but he did. I have caught him pigging out at the feed dish a couple of times since he has started his meds, so I know he is feeling better.

Henny, my grandpa worked for PSO for over 30 years. It is a great place to work. They have really good benefits and take care of their employees and family. Good luck to Mike. I hope he gets the job.

Well, I hope everyone is doing good and stays out of trouble. It seems people tend to get into trouble when its cold, because there is nothing to do. My hand is actually going to sleep typing this, so I guess it's time to shut up now.

GAH! Now I have the little bunny foo foo song stuck in my head... but instead of little bunnies hopping in the forest, it's little chickie foo foos roosting in the bushes...

Monty thanks for the reminder. I hope we can keep our thread as it stands, I have wondered about the thread getting too big since they shut us down the last time. I think it is great that they will let us continue as long as we moterate ourselfs. I love coming to this thread daily even when I don't post!

Hey that's a pretty good idea!

Then we can do the "all hail the bedazzled bator..."

No bedazzlement. Just standard Crimson with cream lettering. BOOMER!

Stimpy I got invited to hunt down that way this week but there was only one slot on the lease and since I have a junior hunter I had to pass. Looks like we will head to the old stand by place near Okmulgee. Good luck and get a big un!

Hey Faerie,

I got the number of a girl close to you that has supposed show-quality Silkies for sale. I'm headed there next week when I come for Lauren's pre-surgery appointment. She is my DH's grandpa's housekeeper. I don't know how much she wants for htem, but she has all different ages. I say this just in case you decide you want more or heaven forbid your's don't make it.

Edited because my hand is still asleep and I can't type.
