My biggest problem is that she's doing this kind of stuff when she knows I'm only working the second job in order to catch up medical bills and pay off debt. I really don't HAVE to do it... I just need to make it til tax season (which is when I get my refund from the government... yes I admit to being one of those people who let the gov't have a tax-free interest bearing "loan" of my money by overpaying). When that comes around, I'll pay off the other two small cards I have left, pay down my Harley, and build 2 more coops and another brooder. Although I did figure out today that my travel rabbit cages are going to come in *very handy* as brooders!

Faerie I will trade you, my boss bought a used pick-up and it dropped a rod on the way home. Two years later he buys a truck that's the same year to use the engine out of it. It has a bad crankshaft. Friday he comes home with an engine that he bought to use parts off of that was already torn down.

Asked him why they tore it down to begin with. Don't know cause he didn't ask. So now he has already spent 3500 on the parts truck and other engine. By the time I get through buying parts and sending things off to the machine shop he will have another 3500 in getting a good engine to put in the original truck. That's seven grand when 4500 would buy a rebuilt with a warranty.

Seems that if someone is clueless they are on the fast track to upper management.

The same thing could be done for a smaller coop or flock, just use a smaller bucket.

Made my waterer the same way, only for this I drilled four 3/8" holes evenly spaced around the outside edge of the bucket up at the top. Fill it with water, put the lid on, turn it up-side-down in the metal pan & Viola! Home made waterer. Just make sure the holes you drill in the top edge of the bucket are about an inch below the top edge of the metal pan's rim.

I just couldn't see paying $20 or more for something I could make for 6 or 7 bucks.

It took her 3 weeks to get my availability into the program... it was there the day after I was hired (I had to input it) and she never remembered to go into the system and approve it. Until you find one, just about anything solid will work for the feeder. You could even make a box out of scrap 2 x 4's & a square piece of plywood. Some pet stores will carry large metal pans.... Great Danes gotta eat out of something. Even a heavy duty cardboard box cut to size would work until you can find a metal pan.

Still haven't gotten a deer yet. Could have shot a small buck a million times. He was just hanging out. Couldn't pull the trigger on a doe and fawn. The fawn was little and I didn't want to force wean it. Did call in some poachers though. Game warden is working on it. I follow the rules and they should too. Not to mention they were right next to my house.
My chicks are growing like little weeds. Worried I may be keeping them too warm. They are 6 weeks old now. How long do I need to supply heat to them? And they eat like pigs. I am going through chick starter like crazy. lol

Yeah, I'm going to be building one of Al's five gallon feeders today, too. Need something to keep my broilers fed for a couple of days so my DD doesn't have to worry about it when we are in Texas over the holiday.

Faery, you can probably get the pans at Aywoods or a local feed supply. I picked up two yesterday. If you can't find the metal ones, I don't see why a rubber one wouldn't work. Just a few bucks more expensive.
