Good morning all.

Hiya Monty, Teach and Clucks, and everyone else that I missed. How y'all durin'?

Brick, that's a nice deer that your grandson brought home. He's lucky to have a place to hunt these days. Tell him to be thankful for the chance to get out and enjoy the hunt, but that the success of the hunt isn't measured by the kill. Too often, kids feel pressured to bring back meat and feel that anything less is a failure. Part of my speech to every kid I ever took hunting included the statement that it's perfectly ok to fall asleep out in the woods. Some of the best naps I've ever taken were taken with my back against a boulder and a rifle across my lap. It's all about enjoying the time in the woods.

City, are you tuned in this morning? I hope I'm not the only one hearing "Don't Cry Blue" by Jonathan Edwards.

Mulies or whitetails?

Don't feel bad, I haven't shot at one since my son started hunting three years ago. He has killed four. Plus my wife has killed two (with her van) since I last took a shot.

I have been driving the van a lot more but no luck there either.

I am waitng for some "DEER" Karma to come my way.
I have passed up many "not good" shots at some big bucks through
the years because I didn't want to make a bad hit and cripple one and lose it.

I think its about time a giant bucks walks out broadside about 25 yards and gives me the look that says
"My time is up, Just shoot me."

Hopefully this weekend I can oblige!

both whitetails

Cuban, I appreciate it. My son has killed alot of deer, but he was pretty excited about this one. I think my grandson, Joey, was still in shock. He missed a small buck during the youth hunt and I was worried about his confidence. It all came together for him on this one.

Not this morning - was listening to a debate on the radio about whether or not some of the recent decisions made by our government administration are in line with the Constitution. Was an interesting debate with rational arguments on all sides.

I wish the men in my family would've taken me hunting 'n stuff when I was younger. The only time I ever went "hunting" was with an ex-boyfriend, who took me turkey hunting once. I got to shoot at a couple of jakes and missed.

Glad your grandson was able to get one! and an impressive one at that!

City, You gonna by that Norman Rockwell place in the country?
I can help you with that pesky deer problem.
Seriously though, I think you should move to the country. Greeen Acres is the place to be!!!!

Of course you would have to change your screen name.
Countryclucks?

I killed a possum last night/early morning? (1:30am). Got woke up by a couple of roosters that normally sleep in the barn. They were out right under my window just a squawking. I went out with the .22 and found a big ole possum in the barn! Nasty thing. It hissed and growled at me too.

Tossed him on the burn pile this morning.
