Morning everyone...
There is no more allowance of talking about Shawnee cause it aint fair to the rest of us that cant go... (stomping my foot in a temper tantrum)... So far despite the chilly temps in the wee hours of the morning all our birds are doing well... We even stopped using the brooder lamp light in the coop at night for the chickens just to see how they would do and so far so good. The Chinese Goose we got a few weeks ago is adjusting to life on the farmstead... she starting eating grass and the game bird feed, which was good considering her main diet at her former home was the preference for CAT FOOD ONLY... Our other geese and duck are slowly taking to her but you can tell they prefer to keep to themselves... Considering they all were hand raised together and MIA(goose) was not...
I have a book coming that was a older publication by MOTHER EARTH NEWS called
Living on Less: An Authoritative Guide to Affordable Food, Fuel, and Shelter and was curious to know if any of you read this? If so what did you think? As Jason and I are really plugging away at clearing this place up we are looking at ideas on how to get the property set up so we are a lil more self reliant with the main factor of us all being more simple(simple doesnt mean no hard work),healthy and pro active in the animal husbandry aspect.
