I has some bantam cubalaya project stags. I'm only keeping a couple to breed from, which leaves me with 4 or so extra. They were gonna be processed for whatever meat their wee bodies had on them.

They are out of a cubalaya cock and bantam shamo hens.

Usually he goes 2 or 3 times a winter... meets up with his brother somewhere up north and that's exactly what they do. Drive on the lake with a shack and drill a hole in the ice to fish through.

We used to live right on a lake called Buffalo lake. It was a very popular lake for its fishing. Although it was in the middle of nowhere. My grandma still lives on that lake along with two of my aunts and their husbands. Many of my other family members live not too far from there too. In the winter, we would always clear a big area to ice skate and then we have a couple of shacks in different spots to ice fish. It is kind of funny seeing all these people having roads going across the lake in the middle of the winter. I remember the first time I took my husband there during Xmas, he could hardly believe his eyes seeing everybody with big ol' truck driving across the lake on the ice and these big shacks in the middle of the lake to fish. Oh, the memories of child hood. I am going to have to stop, I am making myself homesick!

If I don't stop I may have to go home for Xmas and then I will miss the big auction in Blanchard, oh no! The ice skating, the ice fishing, seeing all the beautiful snow on the trees (winter wonderland of paradise), the snow skiing, the cheese & milk (yes I said milk it tastes so much better). I think I have done it, I am sick now, homesick that is for the great far north of home in Wisconsin. What am I going to do?

Don't missa trip for an auction. There will be plenty more and typically auctions around the holidays are pretty slow.

Oh, but the drive, ugggg. It is a very long one, 12-14 hours without stopping! I really don't mind missing that part.

First off, I don't want any of your birds. Most of them are FOO's.
I am pretty much anti-FOO. As far as me owning them. They are fine for those that like them.
Decide what your goals are. Why do you want each breed, each bird. Write down why you like them. Even if it is as simple as I like their color or I just like them.
For instance, later when you are trying to decide whether to keep Marans or Frizzles, you can compare your reasons.
If this is an accurate list, then it should give you a starting place to where you can cut back. (if that is your goal)
You have to consider things like how many you have of each or if you just have hens and no roo or vice-versa. If you do have just one sex then how hard will it be to find a mate and is it worth your time and effort to do so. If it is something you really like and want then hang on to them until you find more.
So if you are keeping the Mutts for eggs then decide if you want the frizzles. Or the doo clays (d'uccle) or the Sebrights.
If you decide to keep them all then work at getting each breed built up to what you want.

It is very hard to have a specific breeding program with just one or two hens. Its even harder with no roosters.
I have built breed flocks from pairs and trios but it takes awhile, sometimes years.
I started my Campine flock with a pair. I now have eight. My biggest problem with building them is that I have hatched and raised about 80-90 percent roos in the last three years.
It seems like every time I have just about given up on something an opportunity has presented itself to either sell them or buy more.
If the Welsummers ever get low on your list let me know.
I know a guy that likes them.

Oh no! My sister-in-law, which was also one of my best friends growing up, good story, just emailed me wondering if we were coming up WI anytime soon. She must be feeling me missing home! More temptations and I was going to call them tonight. So funny!
