Howdy folks!

Who left the door open, it be cold in here!

Someone flitched some hatching eggs (not knowing they were hatching eggs) and made cornbread last night.

I was saving them to set, putting them in a carton on the table. Guess I shoulda put a big ole "X" on them.

Oh my goodness Kate....thank you for something so well said. I just wish there were more parents like you. I too feel that lack of manners is our destruction....why our jails are so full and crime so high. We don't teach to respect others things and other people.

Teach...I agree with Kate...your kids are very well mannered. When you son rode with us to eat last Saturday everything he answered with was Yes maam or no maam...how awesome. I'm sure they little varmits at times but that's what I like in a kid....knows how to have fun....but still knows when they need to show respect. You should be proud of your boys Teach and mom. By the way...they must be a chip off of mom...LOL

Teach did not teach them that his wife did

At any rate, they sure did say 'yes sir' to daddy when he told them what to do, instead of arguing like I see every other child nowadays do. Until, the parent gets fed up and does it themselves. I jokingly tell my children 'That's the reason I had you, to help me with whatever I need.' Of course, that is not the only reason, and my daughters know this.

Edited to add
My friends and I also do not hesitate to tell each others kids they are wrong in their behavior and they need to straighten up. I grew up with the saying 'It takes a village to raise a child'.

Off of the serious note: I just went outside and it is already feeling a little warmer. At least here it does, just a briskness, but not really any breeze so you can feel the sunlight on your face and it feels good!

Just had to come in and turn some eggs and warm the hands, because I am still transferring out of the deep freeze from workshop into deep freeze in house. Brrrrrrr! I think one more trip will get her done!

To end the suspense though, as if anyone didn't already know, #1 on my list is Cubalaya.

They are really pretty with their longer tail! I don't remember where or what I was looking at, but I came across a chicken I think that was called Kelso. Are they similar or related or something? Do you have the top hat polish?

Well, I may have to add myself to my list of birds. I go at 4:00 to have "rooster comb" injected in my knee. Don't know what to expect. Anyone had it done? Will I crow in the morning at daylight? LOL I sure hope it doesn't hurt like cortizone.

To all of you who donated to help the families of the Marines from my old unit, thank you from the bottom of my heart. You made a very sad and scary Christmas a whole lot better for a lot of wives and kids. Being half a world away from home at this time of year sucks out loud, but knowing that there are those who will help care for your family when you can't, makes it a little more bearable.

Come spring, you may forget what you did this season but rest assured that they will not. Thank you so much.

We need to get with all those who dub games. Then you could get rooster comb injections that cost nothing...

I've had cortisone shots in the fingers and those HURT! I would think rooster comb probably don't sting as much. I feel for you anyway.
