I am here, it is too cold for me to move. I am sitting in front of the fire trying to warm up, drinking my hot chocolate coffee mixture.

That reminds me. I need to go mix myself some hot chocolate and coffee. Took my mile walk with one of my coworkers at lunch... the same guy who likes to go ice fishing in January! Brrrrr.

OOooo I like to ice fish, but that was in Wisconsin where the lakes were so frozen we could drive on them pulling a shack and put it over the hole in the ice where we would fish from. It didn't seem as cold as it does here in Oklahoma. This wind kills me here!

Usually he goes 2 or 3 times a winter... meets up with his brother somewhere up north and that's exactly what they do. Drive on the lake with a shack and drill a hole in the ice to fish through.

We used to live right on a lake called Buffalo lake. It was a very popular lake for its fishing. Although it was in the middle of nowhere. My grandma still lives on that lake along with two of my aunts and their husbands. Many of my other family members live not too far from there too. In the winter, we would always clear a big area to ice skate and then we have a couple of shacks in different spots to ice fish. It is kind of funny seeing all these people having roads going across the lake in the middle of the winter. I remember the first time I took my husband there during Xmas, he could hardly believe his eyes seeing everybody with big ol' truck driving across the lake on the ice and these big shacks in the middle of the lake to fish. Oh, the memories of child hood. I am going to have to stop, I am making myself homesick!

If I don't stop I may have to go home for Xmas and then I will miss the big auction in Blanchard, oh no! The ice skating, the ice fishing, seeing all the beautiful snow on the trees (winter wonderland of paradise), the snow skiing, the cheese & milk (yes I said milk it tastes so much better). I think I have done it, I am sick now, homesick that is for the great far north of home in Wisconsin. What am I going to do?

I like your stories, krazykate! I can't imagine driving on a pond or lake - I'd be so afraid the ice would break!

That was my husband. You should have seen him the first time. He was seeing all these big trucks driving across the lake, but him stepping on the ice was almost out of the picture. I finally did get him out there, but he was testing every single step as though he thought he was about to fall through. It really was a site to behold, I was about rolling around on the ice myself with laughter watching him.

I mean those truck way a ton, my husband weighs 180 and he felt like he might fall through. I guess that is the difference between a northerner and a true born and raised Okie.

I love goofiness! My family are all very goofy. He reminds me of how my dad was when growing up. He was really goofy, but strict. Taught us manners and how to behave and treat others with respect, while still having fun. His boys have some of the best manners I have seen in a long while. You don't see too many young boys that have such great manners and are eager to help with whatever needs to be done. His boys wouldn't even let me help them carry my cages I bought from them, like great young gentlemen.

If only everybody taught their children the same kind of manners and politeness as those two our world would be a much better place. And the Teachers today would have a much better time in the classroom with the children, at least here in America. I am not saying they were the only children with manners at the event, I just really noticed how polite and what great manners they had, so I do believe Teach must be doing something right. Maybe I am wrong, maybe it is their mom, LOL.

Here in America, most people have gotten away from good morals, politeness, and how/what we can do to help out our fellow man (neighbor, friend, family, or even stranger). In some other countries, you will still find that the children are to obey all elders and will do whatever they need to to help out another person. In the classroom, the children respect their teachers and will not be tolerated otherwise. It just boils down to us parents, many of us are not teaching our children of today the manners that was once instilled in us. Instead, it is what can we do to make our own lives better, but not what can we do to make others around us better. In whole, this lack of manners is a destruction of our society here in America that is hurting us in the long run.

O.K. I will get off of my soap box now! LOL

Oh my goodness Kate....thank you for something so well said. I just wish there were more parents like you. I too feel that lack of manners is our destruction....why our jails are so full and crime so high. We don't teach to respect others things and other people.

Teach...I agree with Kate...your kids are very well mannered. When you son rode with us to eat last Saturday everything he answered with was Yes maam or no maam...how awesome. I'm sure they little varmits at times but that's what I like in a kid....knows how to have fun....but still knows when they need to show respect. You should be proud of your boys Teach and mom. By the way...they must be a chip off of mom...LOL
